It's just one page, so perhaps it gets better, but I was instantly reminded of the final Turok book for Acclaim when I saw this (and that's not a good thing).Heath wrote:I thought the same thing. As for the art, I like it. At this point with Doctor Solar #1 setting the bar so low anything seems like a step in the right direction. I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the book, but I think this is clear and doesn't distract from the story, so i'm good so far.

I was just thinking that too. The artwork on the cover is simply incredible. Kind of disappointing to see such a radical change on the inside.ian_house wrote:I've been quite surprised by the style of covers that Dark Horse have been putting out in relation to the actual interior art. It's a pretty stark contrast.

Agreed. Looks fantastic. If he can keep that up for the whole series, we got a winner.orbitalshift wrote: This looks super, I can't wait!

You know, my view on art has been changing a bit, and I have been paying attention to how well art tells the story. I see a lot of books that seem like they are just a collection of poses and pinups, and the story would be indecipherable from just looking at the art.
I noticed this recently in the X-Infernus hardcover I got. It's a cool story, but the art does not tell the story well. It seems like a collection of action poses.
This Turok art seems very crisp and clear, and seems to clearly convey the action that is going on in the story. I appreciate that.

good pointraymondsolar wrote:Good to keep an open mind as far as the artwork. When the original Shooter helmed Valiant books came out in the early 1990's I was working a comic book shop up in State College, PA. The books were a hard sell at first as the customers did not care for the artwork (including BWS). However they did like the storylines and writing and as word of mouth built they finally took off. I look for the same thing to happen here.Dr. Solar wrote:You know, my view on art has been changing a bit, and I have been paying attention to how well art tells the story.
