Its gonna be a weird feeling to click the Order button on these books. Seemed like it wasn't ever going to happen again.

It is going to seem strange. I wonder what day the new order form will be live at Mail Order Comics? I'll be going through them for my Dark Horse books. I'm going to have them bag and board them for me, as that just provides an extra layer of protection for each book.

I hate to say it but those art in those interior pages do not inspire me at all. I realize that's the prevalent style in modern books...does anyone agree or am I expecting too much?

That doesn't inspire me greatly either. I don't like it when the black/shadow appears to be on top of the colour. Seems weird.

Anytime I see highly stylized or blank backgrounds it just screams "bad" to me. Thank for your thoughts, everyone.

I really agree that Shooter's going to top his Valiant stuff with his Dark Horse work, which is a staggering statement to make.

You think that's a lot? You should see the price tag I got quoted on the original art to the new Wizard Solar cover coming out soon .... How does $4,500 grab you? That does include shipping and insurance though :P ... by the way, I have seen the cover and it is amazinggggg ... just not THAT amazing. I will post it when the cover finally comes out. I was sworn to secrecy.

I think people think they are going to ride this "Second Comingl" to the moon, Alice and this is the 90's all over again! Sheesh!

raymondsolar wrote:A lot of these negative comments I'm reading here remind me of the guy that haunted my comic book shop around the time that Valiant launched their version of the Gold Key Heroes. I suggested he try them and he said "No Thanks, bad writing and bad artwork". He was back four months later eagerly and happily scooping up every current and back issue at inflated prices that he could get his hands on. My opinion? I was there at the beginning and heavily ordered and promoted the original Valiant books and I can tell you that from my point of view after reading the FCBD issue, this time around it is better, much better. Reinventing formerly published incarnations of heroes the first time around is hard enough but to do it a second time and succeed? (at least in my opinion). And don't forget that Shooter is speaking to an audience in the 2000 decade, not the 1990's one. I like the future direction of Doctor Solar and Magnus I've seen to date and look forward to reading and supporting the rest of the line.
I don't think anyone here is being particularly negative, just discussing what we have to see. I also don't think anyone here is going to be skipping either of the releases due to the art on a Shooter book.

I still can't wait despite the artwork not being in my preferred style.

And ckb I know what you mean about solid backgrounds.

Why is the bad guy stealing pizzas? Shouldn't he rob a bank and buy pizzas with the money? :hm:
