That is a good question - through an odd series of events, I already have two copies of the Sonic the Hedgehog FCBD 2010 book (big woop). Am I not supposed to say that out loud?
I just got my copy and this issue should get cover of the year. One of Raymond Swanland's best comic covers i've seen so far.
All this issue needed was a Shooter editorial. Or at least an intro by him. I was looking forward to seeing something like that since this is such a key launch issue.

It's not earth-shatteringly good but still an excellent zero issue for both series. Solar is already very introspective and it jumps out at me every time they call the character "Phillip Solar".
Sets up a good revival for two silver age characters.

I just finished reading it. I thought it was pretty good, two nice set-up stories. Has the question been answered if these books are eventually going to tie into a shared universe or are they going to be totally independent "universes"?
Initial thoughts are that I think that these will be fun revivals but neither were awesome. Maybe I expected too much?
In terms of story, both were good reads and neither really jumped out as being better written than the other. If I didn’t know either character, I think I’d be more intrigued by what was told in the Magnus story though.
In terms of art, I found Solar’s art flat, too computerized and lacking overall. Magnus was much better executed—lots of fun details.
I’m in for both, but I have more expectations for Magnus right now.
