Tekno Comics

Anyone remember this company? I found some cheapo's on ebay and I'm kinda interested in Leonard Nimoy's Primortals and the Neil Gaiman series. Anyone read them/remember them? Are they even worth my time?

Definitely well worth the time & effort especially on the cheap. I liked MR HERO THE NEWMATIC MAN & TEKNOPHAGE the most. Still working on completing my Tekno run, still need a few to be complete & welcome aboard the DU train :thumb: I wouldn't go over a $1 an issue though unless you only need a couple more to complete the run or if they were signed or premium issues :thumb:

I remember being semi-interested in the leonard nimoy stuff when I was a kid, but never got any copies of his stuff. I do have some of the trading cards around here somewhere. I think I got them at a show or through a Wizard issue back in 94.

Let me know what issues you may need once you start collecting them because I still may have a bunch of doubles kicking around here somewhere from buying a couple good sized lots on E-Bay. I never got into Tekno new but about 5 years back this universe peaked my interest plus someone by the name of Knightt on these boards talked them up real good as to story wise. Plus they are nice & cheap nowadays.

Who is this 'someone' ?

Yep, I really dig these books. Nothing too serious and thank goodness for that as it's sci-fi heavy universe has some..... interesting characters in it.

Here is a link to the issue list... these books are easy pickin's. The only thing that I think that is not 'up to speed' on the list is the number and titles that have a 'gold signature' on them.

wow this is cool - nice research Knightt!

I think after looking that I'm interested in the first run of Leonard Nimoy's Primortals and Gene Roddenbury's Lost Universe. Gonna see what I can find.

I liked it too. It's about the only series that they put out that I remember that I actually liked reading, at least for a while.

Wow! That's two topics we agree on! I knew a second one would come up eventually!

Supposedly there was a mail away premium card. Maybe for Teknophage? Anyone have one?

At one point, I had the entire first 6 or 8 months output from this company, but not sure how much is left. I sold a box a couple years back and most of the books were probably in there. I remember the "names" they had, like Asimov, Gaiman (I think), Rodenberry and Nimoy.

There is probably a whole LOT more that we could and would agree on in the relams of entertainment (comics, movies, TV shows, video games, music, etc) and maybe even in pop culture, it's just that we don't agree in politics...much.

Was I the only person who felt ripped off to buy a book with Gaiman's name all over the cover only to find out he wasn't writing it?

Could never get over that and read any of the books that promoted big names that weren't even doing the in and outs of the books.

How is your Triumphant collection coming ?

If I didn't have other DUs to read ahead of this one, I would dedicate an entire month to just reading this universe. I think the coolest thing that I own from Tekno is the 'ring with secret compartment'. Now THAT was some snazzy promotional stuff, IMO.

Yep, a worthless trinket of fun.
