Cystic Fibrosis Fund Raiser 2010 END...
Tomorrow after the walkathon we will end the 2010 Cystic Fibrosis Fund Raiser.
Our end total this year is $10,434.00 !!!
I want to thank everyone who supported and participated in this years fund raiser.
A special thanks goes out to Byrneout and Elveen for pulling in huge bucks for this years event. Everyone's donations went to research and trying to find a cure for the nation's #1 genetic killer of children in the United States, Cystic Fibrosis.
Again thank you to everyone... with your help, you are making the world a better place and enabling CF children to live longer every year.
Thank you.
(as of tomorrow, the Team Alyssa CF donation website will be closed. For those of you donating on a monthly basis, please delay in any further donations until I get another website up and running... where those proceeds will go into the next fund raiser.)
I do want to add that this is the last year that there will be a CF Walkathon (Great Strides) held here in Sierra Vista, AZ. Next year we will walk in Tucson, AZ and roll our donations into their walk. The reason for doing this is that doing a walk down here in Sierra Vista, AZ has pretty much been a bust. Team Alyssa raises 97% of the donations here and our walks primarily consist of our family and maybe 2-4 other walkers. On a personal level, Alyssa is getting older and is now remembering the walks. We want her to grow up going to and walking in HUGE walks, with lots of people and music and food and knowing that there are large numbers of people that are dedicated to curing her disease and helping other children as well. In doing that and ensuring her memories reflect the incredible effort of people here in Arizona and from this message board, our move to walking in Tucson will be for the better. I feel as if I have failed here in Sierra Vista... my goal was to make this a $50,000 a year town. The only way I see Sierra Vista as a $50,000 a year in donations town, is if Team Alyssa (and this fantastic board) raises that $50K. So, we will just roll it into Tucson and end up with some incredible numbers as Tucson usually does $100K a year. Now ValiantFans.com will be a name mentioned up in Tucson, still doing great things.
THANK YOU everyone...

Yes, we did... and during the walk, I thought of you guys and all the support through the years. We 'finally' found a nice place to conduct the walk, it was at a new park with a great view of the mountains (hills to me) and it was a great setting.
I am not going to give up on this place forever, maybe we will come back here but it will be great to walk among 300 other people for the same cause up in Tucson next year.
No matter where I go, or whatever I do... I know that the beginnings of all this started with a PM to Greg Holland. A PM that was asking if I could bring up the fund raiser on this site. It has been magic ever since.
I also got word today that we can keep the site open until December. Not sure if I want to do that or start a new site. I think the flaw here and in other cities is that people start their fund raiser two to three weeks before the walk. Me, I am kind of always in fund raiser mode.
I gotta put this out... COMICSYTE95 THANK YOU FOR YOUR MONTHLY DONATION TO OUR CAUSE. EVERY month you have been there with your pledge. You did this/do this on your own accord, without me asking, it was your idea and you are running with it. When it could be an extra money in your pocket, you put it towards a very good cause (and YES there are others, like the cancer cure research that we also donate to... after all, I had my small scrape with that damn stuff).
Thank you, Chris... I appreciate your dedication, support and friendship.
Thank you everyone !!!

These are some good ideas !!! I would love to hear if you guys have any more of them. I often out source good ideas, I just have not thought of doing this for the fund raiser.tmcneil82 wrote:You should get some giant 6 foot "Team Alyssa" flags for the bigger event. Or a really long banner you can all hold a part of.
