Dark Horse Gold Key Questions

Post by StarBrand »

Has anyone heard officially what the new Dark Horse Gold Key universe will be called? I would think Dark Horse would have something on the covers differentiating comics from this new line from their other books...
Also, does anyone know who at Dark Horse can be contacted to see if they're still relaunching Dark Horse Presents to debut this new universe?

I'm also keenly interested to see if Shooter pulls from already existing Dark Horse characters to use in the new line. If so, which already existing Dark Horse characters should Shooter use in the new line?

Wow!! I hadn't thought about that! The Comics Greatest World line from the 90's had some good characters like Ghost, Barb Wire, X, and more with a lot of untapped potential and untold stories in them. That would be great is DH would let Shooter draw upon that.

My guess is it's going to happen, if things go well with the launch. Just the whole idea that this new line is centered around characters that already existed shows a predisposition to use such characters, and if anyone thinks outside the box on such things, it's Shooter.

That would be sweet. All those extra copies I got stuck with might go up in value, plus I liked some of those characters.

Where did you hear this? All the interviews, quotes from comic panels and FCBD Magnus/Solar solicits that I've seen indicate that the Gold Key characters will be done in their own series. I haven't heard anything about Dark Horse Presents, which is currently being done online.

This was being talked about awhile back. Anyone remember the specifics?

From the interview with Jim, which of course is enough time ago for things to have possibly changed:

Will the new stories appear in Dark Horse Presents or in their own comics?

Jim Shooter: I believe where Mike and I left it, the new series will debut in DHP and go into their own titles from there.

Oh isn't that from when they first announced it before they even had time to work on it? Since the characters (or at least two of them) seem to be premiering in the FCBD issue instead I assume that nixs that, but I guess we should keep an eye on Dark Horse Presents just in case:

I remember their Myspace comics page was taken down and transfered to the Dark Horse site for awhile due to the Myspace layoffs and then they announced it was coming back to monthly print form again. Then shortly after, they brought back the Myspace comics online again and not much has been said of the print book since. Every month i'll check the bottom of the "Next Issue" section of the MS/DHP page to see if any Gold Key character stories would be mentioned on there.

I guess the GK/Shooter imprint/line is getting too big for side stories to be included in just the Dark Horse Presents format? They should release a "Jim Shooter Presents" monthly anthology instead. :D

Since Dark Horse will likely be coloring their Gold Key comics on computer, there won't be any color guides from their comics. Does anyone know if they're still making 3M pieces at the printer? I would think they are. Also, we may see some uncut proof pages enter the market...

The GK characters in a shared universe with the CGW characters sounds awesome!

Can anyone tell me if there was an official solicitation written for the Free Comic Book Day book from Dark Horse? If so, where can I read it?
Thanks.
