I will caveat some of the 'stuff' I have been typing with "If VEI can come out with some great comics here pretty soon... I will take everything negative that I have said about the current situation." I could possibly be in for a HUGE surprise... and I would really like to be surprised. It's just at this moment like I have a blade between my 3rd and 4th vertebra and am waiting for that final twist.
I can't tell you how uber excited I am with the upcoming Dark Horse books, but it chaps my *SQUEE* to see these great characters from anything but Valiant.

I think VEI would find anything new they published warmly welcomed. I think we naysayers (you and me included Knightt) are not anti-VEI, but rather anti-that VEI are seemingly publishing no new material with the VALIANT characters.Knightt wrote:I will caveat some of the 'stuff' I have been typing with "If VEI can come out with some great comics here pretty soon... I'm anti shroud of secrecy. I don't like secrets. Yeah, businesses are secretive with their stuff, but the only people this secretive are Tiger Woods and terrorists.leonmallett wrote:I think VEI would find anything new they published warmly welcomed. I would agree, I/we are not anti-VEI but it has been SO LONG now that I am extremely disappointed in how just about everything has been handled AND being given dinner scraps in regards to information and material. There are people out there that jump up and down like they have won the lottery when anything comes out of VEI... and folks, VEI hasn't given you squat. The IPs were purchased, and I can understand being delayed by the dumb *SQUEE* lawsuit that could have been avoided SO easily (anyways), but putting out OLD material and having a six page (or so) 'new material'.... well, I'm sorry. That does NOT make me feel all warm and fuzzy, I get that feeling of 'THATS IT ?" I do not praise the Valiant gods for 'FINALLY seeing new material in print'. This, this is NOTHING. It's meant to appease but for me it does not cut it.leonmallett wrote:I think VEI would find anything new they published warmly welcomed. So, I bet that when I see Valiant comic books again one day... my thrill will have long sailed because everything has taken too long and I have not seen any responsible representation of Valiant characters, material or a decent relationship between the new owners and the die hard fans who have carried the torch for years. I mean, am I the only person that feels alienated and has serious concerns about all the veiled secrecy ? "Uh, we can't talk about that... blah blah blah" Stuff it, save it. Just put out some books, man !!!
When/if new books come out, I am not going to jump up and down like an immature fanboy and get all giddy in my stomach. If I did my view of new books will be tainted by utter devotion. When/if books come out, they had better be good because there has been YEARS of preparation. And like jedi said, 'demand the best', don't settle for five pages in a TPB.
Because I have waited so long, now I don't really give a crap WHAT they put out... it has taken too long and now my excitement into resentment.
I am not incapable of eating crow later on, but as far as right now.... well, $hit.... this is now just making me even more tired.

You're right about that...... It's taken them so long and they've been soooooo secretive that whatever they put out damn well better be really friggin good or they've screwed themselves from a fan perspective and to prospective studios who might pick up options. If they are rubbing their nuts this long, they better be able to shoot a monster load.
And to quote the infamous Rick James:
"Don't let it get in your eye, now."
But really, I digress... back on track, I cannot tell you how excited I am at the fact that Jim Shooter is BACK... and he is BACK doing Solar, Magnus, Turok and Samson.
THAT has got me hopping around the house like a 2 year old who just gulped a Monster Energy drink !!!
I like the way that Dark Horse advertised him as well... 'the legendary Jim Shooter'. That is definitely giving him some well earned respect.

Well remember, they had Shooter on board as a "secret" ... they were obviously planning a re-launch of most of the Valiant universe, while licensing the GK3 as well. So that was their "monster load". With Shooter jumping ship it really put a wrinkle in their plans, as their load pre-ejaculated early400yrs wrote:If they are rubbing their nuts this long, they better be able to shoot a monster load.

I would like to apologize... I think I derailed this thread, unintentionally. This was about the GREAT news that Magnus, Solar and Turok would be printed again AND at the hands of the legendary Jim Shooter. I let my feeling of 'damn, I wish that Jim Shooter was putting these character to print within the VALIANT universe'. I let it get out of hand (while I still feel the same but this is the wrong forum/thread) and I apologize.
We have two good things going on here:
Jim Shooter is back in comics !!!
Jim Shooter is writing Solar, Magnus and Turok !!!
Win win !!!
Again, I apologize for derailing this thread.

If by derailing the thread, you meant speaking your mind and raising some good points then please carry on derailing.
This is a disscusion forum about comics and i think everything you wrote was related and relevant IMO.

That is false. DH had the rights to reprint AND produce new comics involving the GK characters since 2005.Crow331 wrote:Well remember, they had Shooter on board as a "secret" ... they were obviously planning a re-launch of most of the Valiant universe, while licensing the GK3 as well.
Anyone with the promo flyer that promotes the launch of DH's GK HC's look at the fine print.

I though everyone was aware from some time ago that DH had the current rights to the GK characters for reprints and although they hadnt announced any, also the rights for new product too.jedimarley wrote:That is false. It may have been the main factor in the downfall of the VEI/Shooter relationship, if they were trying to gain the rights with no success and Shooter had a good relationship with DH, but couldnt sway it for them to take the new product rights over.
We will find out at some point, but as to when who knows.
Maybe we will also find out for sure 100% who VIP were too, even though people are 99.9% sure it was Dynamite/DF.
