Sojourn
I just finished reading Sojourn from the preview issue all the way to 34. I can't believe I've been missing out on such a good story here. Only thing I hate is they never got the chance to finish it. What does everyone else think about this title?

You can afford a pint of guiness and a packet of cheesy wotsits can't you?Draco wrote:It was outstanding from beginning to end, well the last issue anyway.
This was a classic example of how to make great comics and put the big two or three to shame.
I would without a shadow of a doubt buy the entire rights to this if i won the lottery.

I really, really like Sojourn. I think Arwyn s a great lead character. I think the book is maybe the most visually appealing book I have read. One of the books is a stand alone story about the perspective of the monsters (I forget their names, orcs?) is a great, great touching read.
It is a super bummer that they did not finish the book. I actually rank Ruse 1-12 as a better book. And Meridian is right there with Sojourn for me.
But I am a huge Crossgen fan.

That would be great. But not sure if Disney would be selling.Draco wrote:It was outstanding from beginning to end, well the last issue anyway.

I got a set of Sojourn earlier this year and I started reading it and couldn't stop. The story and art were superb. I loved it so much that I am currently collecting the other Crossgen titles. The other titles are all very good as well. I personally think that story-wise, the other Crossgen titles are even better. Sojourn's plot is kind of predicatable after a while, following story-formulas similar to Lord of the Rings, etc (big quest with smaller quests and adventures).

I agree to an extent. Negation has some good writing, so does Route 666. Meridian is super clever and well written (how many books have the main character a teen-age girl?).
For me the best Crossgen goes like this:
Ruse 1-12
Meridian
Sojourn
Scion
Negation
Mystic
The Path
really the only books I did not really like was: Sigil, The first (ugg), Crux.

Negation (by far the best CG book)
Waid's Ruse
The next four are about equal to me:
Scion
Sojourn
Crux
Sigil
Didn't care for The First or The Path and I've yet to read Meridian or Mystic, but Meridian looks pretty good.

Art-wise, I think Sojourn is the best. Scion is a close-second in my opinion. Negation and Negation War are really good story-wise. Too bad it ended abruptly.Escaflown4 wrote:Hmm, seems like the Ruse and Negation should be my next target. I only hope it does compare to the storytelling and the magnificent artwork of Greg Land done on Sojourn.

This was the single most underrated Sci=fi book i can recall, plus the best comic to never be finsihed, especially considering that Negation War was the book to tie all the CGU together and kick of the new stages of the univeres.
Very sad day that was, very sad.

The writing in Ruse is incredible.
Yes.
