2010 NYC Comicons
So I just received an email from Wizard announcing their 2010 Big Apple Con for Octber 8-10 2010 at Pier 94.
Those are also the same dates of the NY Comic Con at the Javitz Center.
Who's gonna go to both? I doubt I would.
I guess this news broke last week, here's a link to the story at Newsarama.

Seems like kind of a stupid thing to do, all the artists and major comic companies along with the rest of the entertainment industry will be at the Javitz, unless of course Gareb has a plan to pay these artists to attend, but I still think they'll be at the Javitz.Draco wrote:Why is it always Wizard doing stuff that is of no benefit to anyone in the comics industry other than themselves still after all these years.
What a bunch of wankers.
Thats what i think.
NYCC kinda pulled a fast one by scheduling their con 19 months from the last one and moving it to the fall, this pretty much took all the steam out of what would have been the National and that's probably why Carbonaro sold out.
If Wizard was smart they would run a nice little profitable show in Feb/March when there's not much going on anywhere, before basketball and hockey playoffs start, when the rooms in NY and travel is dirt cheap and comic fans can afford to be in the city for a few days. They could have carved out a nice little niche for themselves.

Mike Carbonaro's Comic Book Market Place....
It may be at the penn Plaza on the 18th floor....
I was asked for guests...but I have not confirmed anything yet...
I figured that guy was pretty much done. I will be in NY for a show in late Feb, would be nice if they lined up together.

Absolutely no doubt about it. I don't think I'll go to both shows, but, stranger things have happened. Wizard might try to ensnare the comic dealers by giving them cheap tables and formatting themselves as a real "comic" con, but all the seminars and stuff they have at the Javitz will just blow away anything they could really offer, and Marvel, DC, DH, Sony Pic, etc. will only be in one place.Dr. Solar wrote:Wizard is trying to go toe to toe with Reed, and he will probably lose. Shamus also scheduled a new Wizard show in Anaheim the same weekend of C2E2. Pretty weak. I'm pretty sure that teh market place will show Reed to be the winner.
Imagine if you're the guy who works for Marvel who gets sent to represent them at the Wizard con instead of being at the Javitz, ugh.
Marvel have been in each others pockets for so long that seems exactly like what will happen. A token presence at the Javitz, just like SDCC used to have, and a full fledged booth at Wizard. I'll definitely be at the Javitz. Wizard won't be seeing a dime from me till they stop trying to pull crap like this.
