Warriors of Plasm - Sedition Agenda (and a general rant)
While I realize I have been living in the "Who cares about Warriors of Plasm" thread recently (which really was just an update to an old thread, not a new one), I had to start a new thread about the first story arc of Warriors of Plasm.
I seriously, really, REALLY loved issues 0-4 (The Sedition Agenda)!!!! This story arc had EVERYTHING that a good, action-packed sci-fi drama should have! This book made me feel the way I did when I first watched Joss Whedon's Firefly TV series a few years ago...and likewise left me thinking...
WHY THE HELL IS GOOD ENTERTAINMENT LIKE THIS NOT STILL ACTIVE?!?!?!?!?!!!!
Granted, here I am truly appreciating these books years after their creation, so technically, they are still serving their purpose, but dang it...it just makes my heart ache that Jim Shooter has had to go through so much hardship just trying to make TOP NOTCH comic book entertainment. I wish that I could give Mr. Shooter a billion dollars, because he deserves so much more success!
I am hoping and praying that his new books at Dark Horse will not only make him crap-loads of money, but that more and more people will be introduced to his completely original, and spiritual creative mind!!!
In closing, this comic book is currently my favorite read, and is honestly the first time in 5-6 years that I want to re-read an arc over and over again.
Just floored!

Gracias, Senor Elveen! I know that sometimes my overly positive-ness can be cheesy, but it is sincere, have no doubt
Last week, I had written an email to Jim Shooter just praising him and telling him about my recent discovery of his works and how I acknowledge all the hardships he's had to overcome, but that the efforts were not wasted since the stories are so beautiful. My wife reads my email and says, "You are totally a little kid..."
Hahahahaha. I can't help it. As I get older, I appreciate the little things more and more. We always have a choice on how to handle information, right?
Good times!

Plasm...continued...
Just finished Warriors of Plasm issue 7...and after reading Mr. Shooter's editorial...man, not having the "Schism" storyline is heart-wrenching! My opening post on this thread sums up the feelings, so no need to repeat myself...lol. But, I have just purchased the remainder of the Defiant universe from Xodacia, and am eagerly awaiting these books so that I can experience everything up to the end. In regards to Plasm though, such a bummer that I only have 6 issues left until i'm done

I thought Shooter *crushed* it out of the park with his LSH work and was bummed and confused why the run came to an end.svair wrote:I'm quite confident this venture will be a huge success...JonesyAZ wrote:

I wish him the best of luck with this next chapter and will contribute a bucks to its success.

Chiclo, do you mean Warriors of Plasm 13, and what was it...Dog of War? Or, do you mean that two issues of the Schism book-ends were published. Also, which issue did fans piece together?Elveen wrote:Chiclo wrote:Two Schism issues were published.JonesyAZ wrote:Just finished Warriors of Plasm issue 7...and after reading Mr. Shooter's editorial...man, not having the "Schism" storyline is heart-wrenching! I think it was Schism 1 that they managed to put together. Mostly the art and I think the script was separate,

Dogs of War was only tangentially related to Schism, as far as I could tell if there wasn't a Schism logo on the cover it would have been no different.
back to WoP
Read up to issue 11 last night.
It was a damn good series except . . .
I was always disappointed in the humans and just wanted Plasm stuff.
I appreciate now that the 0 issue was done after the series was plotted out and formed, but for me, the 0 issue was special.
All my local stores were Capital/Advance Comics, so I never got a bound in zero issue, I actually spent like $20-35 on the card packs to get the story, then more on the binder.
And I loved it. Imagine my dismay when issue 1 finally comes out and Lorca and company take a back seat to heroes that held little appeal for a teenage boy, namely an old white lady and a middle aged Sherman Helmsly. Plus a dude missing an arm.
I've gotten over that and still love the series, but man, pushing comics into the market where the main hero was an old grandma with a Jeffersons sidekick . . . that's keeping the universe's realism a little too real.

The thing that I loved about Defiant heroes were their ages.
I mean how many companies would have 2 senior citizens has superheroes in one of the core book (The Warriors of Plasm)?
A 50 year old man in the second core book (The Dark Dominion)?
I liked that Shooter and company were saying that anyone at any age could be a super hero.
