Nice books though they may be, Future...they're nothing but quarter books (the 9.8's) OUT of the holder...EVEN IN THAT CONDITION.FutureShock wrote:I have listed the following books on EBay:

The reality is, and people are very quickly discovering this, that unless it's 10.0...maybe 9.9....otherwise quarter books aren't going to sell for a premium, even if that premium is LESS than the cost to grade them!
That's just the way the market works.

I don't think I'm going to be able to stop myself from adding them to my set at $10 each. I'm going to really try though.

I think that there are several people lokoing to add to their collections on the cheap here...of course that just means that no one is and they will get to the fair market value...Of course I havent bought a valiant comic in a while, so maybe I need to throw my hat in...yes even I would buy 9.8 valiants @ $10/each...cant really pass those up...

Well, hey, more power to all of you.
If the market SUPPORTS $10 or more for these, by ALL MEANS.
I've got some 9.8 A&A #2's...hmmmmm....
Yes, they're raw, and yes, they're 9.8.
Is it WORTH paying $20+ to sell them for $10?
Well.

You know, a very interesting thought has occured to me....what if....and this is a hypothetical here, so hear me out....
but what if there are THOUSANDS of books that are otherwise worthless.....and therefore, NO ONE sends them in to CGC....what if those few that ARE submitted gain a nominal value JUST BECAUSE THEY'RE THE ONLY COPIES ACTUALLY GRADED....?
No one's going to rush to grade if these sell for $15...that's silly.
But....$15 is DOZENS of multiples of what these books are worth raw.
So...what are they paying for? The shiny case? The 9.8?
OR....is it because they're simply very rare graded, and therefore automatically command something 'near the grading cost' because, heck, that's what it cost to grade!
Is there going to be some kind of 'baseline value' for ALL CGC books?
Interesting thought. Time will tell.
