Cool Valiant Finds!

Post by Doorman »

So I just got in a new collection of 5 long boxes this weekend and came across some interesting finds:

Image
Valiant Voice #19, Shadowman #0 (non-chrome) [correct me if I'm wrong ... but this one is harder to find than the chrome cover, right?], Deathmate preview [pink]

Image
Rai, Shadowman, Unity Saga 2, X-O Manowar

Image
This is by the far the most interesting, to me. I've never seen its like before ... perhaps someone could clue me in a bit more? It's a cover to Deathmate prologue without the shiny silver foil. It opens up and the inside cover, the back inside cover and the back cover are the exact same as any regular Deathmate prologue. It's also signed by a handful of creators ... but I really can't make any sense of 'em. Thought you guys might appreciate seeing this!

That signed Deathmate doodad pops up from time to time.

I can't remember much to tell you about it other than your item there is uncommon but not especially rare.

That's what I call all of Deathmate.

I just picked up the signed Deathmate not too long ago. Not really valuable but I think it’s cool. :thumb:

i was at a garage sale the other week and came across something rather interesting.

aparently this old mans son had run a comic shot in the early 90s and they were just getting around to clearing out there old storeage unitl

and low and behold i found some pay dirt. I was able to pick up some of my missing issues of Harbinger, and later issues of magnus and other randoms but......i also saw the perfect example of over printed comics.

the guy had literally a whole long box of Turok 1, Magnus 25, bloodshot 1, XO 0 issue, the valiant vision issues, and other such things. He had half along box full of Magnus 25 alone.

Also he had tons and tons of Ex Mutants, random Evil Ernies, and lots of Malibu and Impact issues.

and yes after soem digging i did find all 4 covers to Xmen number 1, X force and some others in that type. Lots of the first 4 issues of youngblood and brigade as well.

my sorta point to all of this is, have any of you guys seen stuff like that. was that common?

yup...those are the commons that everyone got copies of from 93 to 95 or so...some of those had print runs approaching if not over 1 million copies

I know of a comic shop owner who got stuck with a long box of Turok 1s after a customer reneged on purchasing this speculative order.

That's correct, although the non chrome is not all that rare or valuable though.

Actually you can roll about 12 of them up and bind them with string and they make great starter logs for a firepit.

I have made it my mission to destroy as many of the 1M+ print run books as I can get my hands on. To date I have destroyed approx 600 Turoks and 300 Bloodshots (all of which I bought for a penny a piece).

Maybe Greg can start a 1M+ print run destruction total, similair to the Pre-Unity Rescue effort.

For the record: I'd double your money and treat them with love. Just an FYI for all you hep cats, should you come into similar quantities.
