Is Rai your favorite Valiant character or title?
I have seen several of us mention in various posts that Rai, Tohru Nakadi (Magnus 5-8 Flip books & Rai 1-7), was either a favorite character, the favorite character, or favorite comic, that Valiant put out.
I got curious as to how many people on the board feel that way.
If you would claim him or his comic as your favorite chime in!
Tohru is my favorite Valiant character and likely all time favorite comic character

Rai was the character that actually made me notice Valiant as a company that was trying to be different. It seemd that you could interchange any character in an Image book and get the same story. Though I appreciated the other titles that Valiant was putting out, it seemd to be more as a revamp of Gold Key (at first look). It was Rai, placing him in the Magnus future, and his ultimate fate that stuck with me.

Magnus is my favorite Valiant character, but Rai is a close second.
Tohru was without a doubt my favorite Rai and I think Valiant made a huge mistake in killing him off. For me the title was never the same without him as Rai.
I never could get into the fake Rai, Takao. His character was just plain annoying to me. Killing him off was one of the best things they ever did.
Obadiah was a little better, but still not Rai.
Takashi would have been a better choice, since he was the next in the Rai bloodline, but instead they chose to make him evil and sadistic.

I always thought it would have been interesting to see Obadiah, imbued as he was with the Blood of Heroes, be the one to go "off kilter". Instead, we were "treated" to a tale of angst. Yawn.Daniel Jackson wrote:Magnus is my favorite Valiant character, but Rai is a close second.

If VEI does not want to reboot, I hope they choose to rebuild the giant dragon and try to get back to what made Rai so great. They could even come up with a way to either bring Grandmother back or make another one. The original premise was amazing and very unique, until Rai and the Future Force took over.
After that, everything started sliding downhill fast.

the political infighting in the future books gave them such a sense of realism. you understood this world of the future, and saw that in many ways it was not so different from our own society-it drew you in and made you care. later, it just became one beat 'em up bad guy story after another.
i'd love to see a return as dj just suggested.
grandmother could come back, which would bring the anti-grannies back, and all that good stuff!

Ah, but Aram seduced Erica and nearly got himself an "in" that neither Rai nor Solar could accomplish. If it weren't for that damned Shadowman messing things up and Archers "goody 2 shoes" act.dave wrote:just remember, erica captured solar, but she had to KILL rai!
What we need is innovation and even revolution—but not so much in the form of marketing ploys and doohickeys. What is needed is bold creative vision, excellent stories, and brilliant storytelling, in a word, entertainment. -- Jim Shooter

how cool would it have been if aram and erica actually hooked up! you could have gil show up ready to fight, and explaining to armstrong how bad she is and evil blah blah blah-and he's like her enforcer for a while.
