VEI in the UK

Post by hellboydce »

i may have missed this discussion, or there may not be anyone else on this site from the UK but does VEI have a distribution problems over here, as i couldn't get hold of the HC's of XO and Harbinger anywhere and that included Amazon uk and probably the biggest mail order company of genre and comics related stuff, Forbidden Planet, and no one over here knows anything about the Archer and Armstrong coming out, the only reason i found out about XO and HB was a member of this site mentioned them on another site i frequent and i was able to track down copies through Ebay from someone in the states and that is what i will probably have to do with A & A, but VEI are missing out on a hell of a lot of revenue by not getting them into the LCS over here, or at least making them available to amazon uk or Forbidden Planet

So far I have got mine through ebay (through a board member in at least one case, memory is fuzzy though).

The original problem was due to the legal issues re: the distribution. There was supposed to be the means to order them specifically. It took around 6 months for my LCS to be able to order the Harbinger book, by which time I had sourced a copy elsewhere. I don't think it is an LCS problem, but something amiss with distribution arrangements.

Welcome to the board from a fellow Brit, by the way. :thumb:

Dude, we are retailers in the Uk and we get them all when they ship albeit a bit later than we would like.
Drop us a line.

The Royals need their own section. I could read the same page of posts for hours and still have no idea what was going on.

I've got no problem with it. I love reading it. I just want there to be a concentration.

I meant more like the BBC when I was growing up. I loved watching Benny Hill, Flying Circus, Red Dwarf, and Are You Being Served?

Love Red Dwarf.

I have all of the seasons on DVD. It's a shame that British TV seasons are so short though. 6 or 8 episodes a year just doesn't cut it.

Yeah, if they're not going to be able to make a movie I wish they would at least make direct to DVD episodes or something.

Blackadder.

-slym (also liked "The Young Ones")
Some people spend their whole lives believing in fairy tales, usually because they don't want to give up the fabulous prizes.

Good choices both, slym. The final series of Blackadder (...Goes Forth) probably had the most poignant ending to any comedy I have watched, and amongst the most poignant of any TV series I have seen.

It is a cunning ploy when it comes to showing re-runs.

Get a bunch of seasons together and show all 52 episodes on a one a week basis.

By the time the next year rolls in you will have forgotten most of the early stuff and it is funny again.

Unless you are a POS channel like channel 4, Sky 1 or Paramount Comedy UK in which case, grab a bunch of shows like Friends, Scrubs and the Simpsons, run 4 back to back episodes per day 3 times a day and by the time next month rolls around you will be so sick and tired of the same *SQUEE* you will never want to watch a sitcom again.
