How I got my first Valiants
I was collecting a good amount back in the day, but was tired of everything X-Men and all the "look alike" titles. Upon the recommendation of the store owner, I traded in all my X-Men comics for the entire Unity storyline. I got hooked on Valiant after that. The storytelling was far superior what I had come to expect.
Then I took a collecting break for about 15 years.

Nothing but the overprinted X-Men, but it also included Jim Lee's first X-Man works, which I really liked.Brother J wrote:You traded your X-Men comics for Unity storyline books?
I hope they weren't bronze age X-Men books...![]()
If it was modern overprinted X-Men books...good trade!
I got through Solar 1 - 10 this weekend. Great read. Great memories.

I remember starting to collect the pre-unity stuff after reading the unity story line. Those issues were expensive (relative to my income at the time) and also hard to find. I eventually got most of them.Elveen wrote:Welcome Big Pun.
Unity was a great place to jump in.
Make sure you read the pre-uni stuff, if you have not. It is great.

My first Valiants: German Ebay. Somebody sold his complete collection. Only some very special issues like the very first Magnus, Solars and Harbingers were missing. I read a lot over the Valiant universe during bidding week, therefore I went into it with a lot of fervor.
But after I managed to get Harbinger (nearly complete), somebody came along sweeping the plate, getting every book from M like Magnus til X like X-O Manowar. Maybe it was for the better - I had to move to another city just two weeks later, so it would be quite illogical to add some tons of comic books at that moment
