Post by Draco »

hey guys just picked up a copy of Tribe # 1. one of the early Image incentives i never had way back when but found for 10p at a show recently.

Its a lovely copy that probably under much depth would come out at a 9.4 or above is slabbed but for 10p in abox of tat im lucky if it grades over 8.0

Nice! That's been a very hard book for me to find. I only have 2, I think.

That, and the Shaman's Tears incentive with the sparkly holofoil logo. I have ONE copy, and it's got a bad 1.5" color breaker in the spine...sold to me as "NM/M!"

;)
I have seen many copies of others over the years, but this always eluded me.

What are the top ten?

Well heres a pic to start it off, but im hoping we can make a list and a gallery of all the early ninety incentives.

I remember a few years ago I saw a 1963 book with an outer cover over the Mystery Incorporated issue that just said "1963 is Coming!"

There was a guy in the UK that got Gold and Platinum issues made of 1963. They were unfortunately just really bad variants with extra coloured gold and silver card covers added after the initial print run.

Not sure if thats what you mean.

They were limited to 50 and 200 if i recall right.

Yeah, I think that might've been it (I do remember the eBay seller being in the UK).

I actually don't have a platinum, and the seller selling them wants to charge me $40 for one (including $20 for US shipping. Ugh.)

I have a gold, but need to upgrade. I paid $20 for mine, but again, that was cause shipping was half that.

If you can get me VF/NM or better copies of both, by all means....let me know. :)

I guess if they exist they that counts.

personally they are the single lowest form of variant i have ever come across ( museums aside    ) and would not have them unless they are a joke price.

Im slowly picking bits up now, but i only stared to bother about 1 year ago.

I have collected for 30 years but had way too many stops and starts selling my collection to start up 21 years ago and losing a major collection in '94.

I started again in '98 after mainly picking out recent books and selling incoming collections without taking any for myself.

after nearly ten years of solid buying i have still sold 90% of what came in trying to define what i want but it changes so often.

Now i do know that my Valiant stuff is here to stay and all DU's & DFT's too.

I have picke da lot of wird premium books, but they can be sold on or exchanged at any time, its just goo dfun this end so i dont put too much effort into it right now.

I will not pay much for anything outside of my Valiant want to finish of all Volumes.

There have been gold Wizard 1/2 books in the past. Just do an eBay search. There's also another Darker Image book that is relatively scarce compared to the standard gold. It's a platinum, but they may have called it a silver. I post a scan of that one if I ever remember to start scanning this stuff after work...

No, but in the image here, http://comicbookdb.com/issue.php?ID=55360 I assumed that the Special Edition stamp was gold foil that didn't scan well.

I will try and dig them out and put together some photo references. I am also a huge ashcan fan... love those Cyberforce and WildCATs ashcans.

I have (from what I have been told) a pretty hard to find Iron Man red cover ashcan (V2), whew I love that thang....

But what is going on these days with variant covers ? Man, I am SO loath to pick up a variant cover. I'd need to be pretty turned on by it to actually spend over cover for it. And seeing as how I have been able to get my old Image variants SO cheap, well it spoils you.

Now this ashcan fetish... whooo jeez. I see an ashcan, I just buy it. Does not matter if I like the title or not, I mean just how many Lady Rawhide ashcans does one need ? LOL

Dude, you have to be sh itting me right?!!?

I have the same ashcan problem, so we need to do some trades.

I have some weird stuff and anytime i see doubles from now on i will pick em up for you.

It's a platinum, but they may have called it a silver. I post a scan of that one if I ever remember to start scanning this stuff after work...

You misunderstand my question. ;)

There are many Wizard 1/2 golds....I even have a thread in Buy/Sell/Trade selling them. ;)
