Joe Quesada...

Did he work on Bloodshot?? I see he worked on other titles in the VU....The reason I ask is I recently bought a copy of Bloodshot 0 (autographed) with what I thought was Van Hooks signature but I saw Quesda's signature and it looks Identical to what's on my Bloodshot 0.It has a COA but does not state who's signature is on the front.Does anyone have scans of each's signature??

I had him sign a 'shot #0 when he was at the Marvel booth. He did it, but didn't say a thing.

I know most here are fans of artists who had long runs in Valiant titles (like BWS, Bob Hall, etc). Is there anybody else here whose favorite Valiant Comics artist is Joe Quesada? He only did a few issues (around five, I think) but to this day,X-O Manowar #0 is still the most beautifully illustrated book for me. The crazy layouts and designs, the use of curves and shadows...and the storytelling. Joe was just an upcoming artist then but he is no pin-up artist. The first few pages where only the art told the creation of the X-O Manowar armor is amazing.

The crazy layouts and designs, the use of curves and shadows...and the storytelling. Joe was just an upcoming artist then but he is no pin-up artist. The first few pages where only the art told the creation of the X-O Manowar armor is amazing.

I always liked his Valiant work. His Ninjak covers are all really nice, in addition to what ou already mentioned.

I also vaguely remember having a Solar issue signed by Quesada at one point, did he ever do a solar cover?

For me X-O #0 was a watershed moment in VALIANT. I was already a drooling fan boy and when that issue came out it just solidified why I loved the VU. At that time, Joe Q was already one of my favourite comic artists.

I got mine from my local LCS as well. I was a kid and the owner knew how much I liked Valiant since I had a lot of them pulled. Basically gave it away and my Mom framed it for me for Christmas that year. I have had it ever since. I was able to get the XO Manowar litho many years laters from a former board member (RIP).

Sounds like you and I liked very similar characters.

Joe Q was (and is) a legendary draftsman in my mind. I jumped on any book he drew since the Ray mini for DC. His light and shadows trump anyone else's I've seen.

Further, he resurrected the turn of the century French illustrative style, made most famous by Alphonse Mucha. He co-opted that style and brought it into the sequential art form of comics beautifully! He must have spent just as much time on the intricate panels and backgrounds as he did on the characters themselves. I respect that.

When he came to Valiant I died and went to heaven. I only wish he was more prolific at valiant.

The day he left Ninjak was a sad day for me. I had such high hopes for him to become another dedicated series artist like Bob Hall.

Alas, he's gone on to do pretty amazing things.

I have every issue of ASH by him and Palmiotti...Beautiful stuff with some solid concepts. Too bad they both went off to bigger things, because their company "Event" had some good stuff going on (Ash, Painkiller Jane, Kid Death, 22 Brides).
