WWLA 2008
So, after typing most of this, and making a typo, and hitting the backSPACE button, my effing browser decides to GO BACK AN EFFING PAGE, thereby erasing all of this.
Nice.
Very, very nice.
Eff you screwed up garbage technology.
Eff you.
Anyhoo.
Where was I?
As yes.
WWLA was about as crummy as one can expect.
(Now, I've forgotten most of what I already typed, so I guess I have to start from scratch. Nice.)
Anyhoo, I spent most of my time at the Jay Company booth, talking to Bill & Jim, and buying some stuff, about $130. I learned some stuff about Elveen in the process.
Also, some other guy was trying to buy pre-unity, and apparently, Jim was selling a Harby #1 for $20....which is a good price in this market....and the guy was hemming and hawing.
Of course, there were the usual dealers who think they can price things at full (and over) retail, regardless of how "hot" it is, and then wonder why business is slow.
Case in point....a guy has a "$2 on everything $6 cover and below, 50% off the rest" sign...so, I grab a DD #184, which didn't have a $6 COVER price, but DID have a $13 tag on it....
I ask the guy "how much?" and the guy says $6.50.
I say "thanks!" and put it back.
The guy says....and here's where I like my self control...."that's a great price!"
Yeah, in 1991, it would have been a great price. Now? I think not.
I did, however, find one guy with good stuff, who was willing to make a deal. I found 12 NM Groo (Pacific) #7s, all for $1, plus multiple Groo #110-117, Mage #2, Hellblazer issues, Walking Dead #21-30, random stuff, all $1. Yay.
Also sold me a Wolverine #10 for $5. Double yay.
Then, sold me a VG Spidey #122, a VG/F #121, a Fair Batman #84 (split all the way to the top staple, but hey...it's Batman #84! That book's IMPOSSIBLE to get!) and a Batman #86....all for $90.
Not bad.
The Spidey #121-122 are $50 books alone.
So....not horrific, not great, but certainly came away with more than I expected.
And yeah, I really did have to re-type all of that. Sigh.
Nice.

Yes, I know. I know.greg wrote:If you're not in the text box when you hit backspace, it goes back a page.
(This is on every website, not specific to this one.)
If you're lucky, you can hit the "forward button" on the browser
and it will go back to where you were with all the text you had.
If not, you retype.
Sux, I know.

I know that some websites "store" any text typed if you go back and forth a page (eBay does this, as does Paypal)....and this site USED to do this....
But I've lost stuff before.
It's tear inducing frustration sometimes.

Jim said he did.Elveen wrote:BTW, did the dude buy the Harby #1?
He would have been dumb not to.
It's a double edged sword....I've been pimping Valiant to Jim and Bill for 9 years now (Jim and I were reminiscing about that yesterday.)
They knew nothing about it....but I've been telling them about it for years, and so, now they know. They know what to look for, and what's good.
That also means they have it available for sale when no one else does.
I bought my Unity 2000 #3 for $10 off of them that way. Sure, it was $7.50 more than I thought I should have to spend, but I passed it up (unknowingly at the time) when it was $2.50, so it's my own fault.
