Harbinger #3, coupon detached but present, value?
Here's a situation I've never encountered, so I thought I'd get some opinions. I just received Harbinger #1-3 from Neatstuff (paid .01 each plus the $1.50 S/H) and all three had the coupon present. However, the coupon in #3 was loose in the book, detached from the perforated part but it was still in there. What do you think this does to the value of the book? I assume that it's not worth as much as the coupon attached, but it should be worth more than a book with the coupon completely missing.

Hmmm... I'm confused. What preforated part? I've never seen a coupon with a preforation. I had to use a scissors to cut mine out.
Does this mean the coupon was in two pieces? Which piece was bound into the book, if any? Is the piece still bound into the book staples in with one of the staples?

If the coupon is uncompleted, mauled or defective in any way that would made a third grade party like cgc reject given it a high grade then I would tend to also devalue the comic. From the sound of your original post, I believe it would be undesired by 90% of the board members who frequent this forum.
Not to be a downer but I'd either return the book for a refund or keep the book in hopes that one day coupon less Harbingers gather some value.

All the copies I secretly tore the coupons out o....er, bought, took home, and removed....I had to tear out raggedly.....there was no perforation that I could see (or still)ckb wrote:Hmmm... No, the coupon is loose inside the book, the stub 1/2 is still attached as is the little flap the coupon was attached to.Does this mean the coupon was in two pieces? Which piece was bound into the book, if any? Is the piece still bound into the book staples in with one of the staples?
It's my fault, I've actually never see a detached coupon before and I couldn't figure out why someone would cut it and then leave it in the book.
No big deal, really. Considering what I paid ($1.51 each for Harbinger #1-3, Magnus #5 and X-O #1) I really don't have much room to complain. The description in the auction didn't even mention the coupon and since it was neatstuff, I figured any question about the book would probably go unanswered. The Harbinger #1, 2 and Magnus #5 all had coupons and cards intact so overall, I'm happy. Not to be a downer but I'd either return the book for a refund or keep the book in hopes that one day coupon less Harbingers gather some value.

It's one of the wierdest things I have ever heard. Does the coupon cut match exactly with the stub? Is the paper stock the same.
Including a copy of a part of an incomplete book is a nice thing to do. Some people may even have copied their coupons before sending them, and put the copy in the book.
Bottom line is that it has to be considered "couponless".

My point was we did not know the panels on the coupons were going to be reprinted in Harb 0. So, keeping a copy of the image would have been wise if you weren't hoarding multiple copies.

This reminds me one time back in the mid 90's, I bought Cyberforce #1 in a similar fashion. If anyone remember, it was one of the Image issues that had the coupon to redeem Image #0. I didn't bother to check the coupon until I got home. It was horribly cut out, but it was there to tease me. What a waste of 3 bucks.

I actually have a full set of the coupons/certificates that should have been used to send to get the Next Men 0 issue. I am not sure what happened but I never mailed them in.

I wonder how rare they are?
By the by....Next Men was really, REALLY good. Last good thing Byrne ever did.
