Hello, my first post
Hello all, glad to see Im not the only one. I just signed up for the forums, this website is awesome!!!
Nothing too fancy here. I started collecting comic books when i was a kid. I had a paper route and spent all my money on comics. I was a strange kid though. I never read any of them. I couldnt get into anything from the big companies like dc or marvel. I think I liked The Nam, punisher series and that was about it. I somehow got some kind of retailer account with a large wholesale distributer and started buying in bulk lol. I hadnt been collecting long. my first Valiant comic was Bloodshot #1. I started right when Valiat started taking off. I loved bloodshot. I started buying strictly Valiant comics. Every one I read I loved it. I couldnt afford any of the older ones because I was a kid and couldnt afford. Im not sure where I stopped. Valiant was still on fire. I stopped collecting comics and started doing more undesireable things that teenagers go through. I wont go into detail on this website lol, but I ended up selling all my comics and stuff for other things.
Anyways, all this time later, actually, about a week ago, I did a search on google "What happened to Valiant Comics?". Which led me to find this fabulous site. I had an entire wrong impression after reading the back ground of valiant, acclaim etc. The rumor I heard years and years ago was that Valiant pretty much scammed everyone and lied about print runs.
So, after reading up, and seeing people awesome collections, I decided to get back into comics. I have no interest at all in marvel, dc, or anything else for that matter. Like sportscards, I am dissapointed what the hobby has become. Too many issues, too many subsets, too many gimmicks. For someone to keep up with it all its impossible. So I am back, and I am collecting nothing but the valiant universe, now that I can actually afford it. I have gone pretty nuts. Ive purchased around 500 books this week, need to take a break lol, but its hard to resist with the prices you can get em for now. I intend to get them all, from valiant and acclaim. Well Ive rambled long enough. Just glad to see that there are people still supporting it.
I have a 4 year old son. Will pass it on to him when hes old enough...maybe. I think valiant is a better investment than dc and marvel crap. I would rather have books that used to be popular and that the characters could come back at any time and make these small print run books desireable, than having a bunch of marvel junk that 50 years down the road there are still going to be 300000 near mint copies floating around.
Memory of Valiant that I remember the most-------trying to mow my lawn, and make perfect valiant logos in it. The plan was to take pictures from the roof and try to win the contest!!!--- never worked out lol

Welcome to the board.
That rumor was probably started by some disgruntled speculators that lost their shirt back in the day (and there were quite a few). Just makes you wonder how many other people think this as well.
Was actually The local comic shop that went out of business back then, so yep, must of been it. I was a kid, so I just took it as fact, and never looked into it.That rumor was probably started by some disgruntled speculators that lost their shirt back in the day (and there were quite a few). Glad you were able to find the site and sort it all out. With the legal problems of the trademarks finally resolved, now is a good time to get to know Valiant again.Smashey wrote:Was actually The local comic shop that went out of business back then, so yep, must of been it. I'd swear that took me a few months to achieve. Do we have another 'custom title within a year' on the way?ZephyrWasHOT!! wrote:Just a bit over a month, and 255 posts....not bad....
