Unity 2000 And Omar's Screw Up In A New Light
When Unity 2000 #2 came out and people saw the panel of Phil holding a copy of VALIANT's Solar Man of The Atom #1, the belief at the time was that Omar, the editor, had screwed up and scanned the wrong comic in place of a copy of Gold Key's Doctor Solar Man of The Atom #15... but what if it wasn't a mistake? What if it was a clue that NO one caught?
What if, as ilogical as it may sound, the Phil from Unity 2000 was inspired by VALIANT's Solar to become Solar?
Yes, he says that he read it when he was a kid, but maybe in his world VALIANT published comics when he was a kid.
If true, that would mean that Unity 2000 could be dismissed as a clash between one reality that BELIEVED itself to be the prime reality and VH 2 (no b3, you don't get to say that it was a reality that BELIEVED it was VH 2
. Unlike the Solar mistake, NOTHING in this series contradicts ANYTHING from the VH 2 comics. Alex Darque even had the crown he obtained in the Darque Passages mini series).

I remember when arguing about VH2 and U2K was fun. That was what, 7-8 years ago?ManofTheAtom wrote:When Unity 2000 #2 came out and people saw the panel of Phil holding a copy of VALIANT's Solar Man of The Atom #1, the belief at the time was that Omar, the editor, had screwed up and scanned the wrong comic in place of a copy of Gold Key's Doctor Solar Man of The Atom #15... but what if it wasn't a mistake? Have you seen that page from one of the unreleased issues that shows Alex Darque arriving on the Muskogee of an alternate reality where he meets Phil Seleski reliving the accident again and again in penance?
According to the script that Phil was the real Phil Prime.
I thought that was the most intriguing aspect of the entire story and the one worth of exploring IF Unity 2000 is ever finished.
One idea U2K introduced was that one's place in the multiverse is a matter of perspective.
The Solar featured in the story THOUGHT he was the prime Solar (and even convinced Alex of that), but the script had a different perspective and said that the Phil in the hell of his own making was the real prime.

Hmm... kinda "Dark Tower"-ish, what with the Gunslinger (Roland's) ultimate fate.....ManofTheAtom wrote:Have you seen that page from one of the unreleased issues that shows Alex Darque arriving on the Muskogee of an alternate reality where he meets Phil Seleski reliving the accident again and again in penance?

I think Shooter may have been trying to salvage what he began by writing an out to Acclaim's stupidity.
Yes, U2K ended with Solar and the other heroes vanishing after drinking the magic ink, but this Phil still survived.
I think that this Phil Prime was Shooter doing the same that Layton did with X-O Manowar #68, write a way to bring back the real VALIANT Universe and ignore everything that Nicieza did.
They could either say that everything after X-O Manowar #1 was a dream, or say that nothing happened because the Phil from Alpha & Omega never actually traveled back in time and stopped the meltdown.
