All I know is if this actually sells for this much I am going to take the two or three ivories that I have and get them graded and flood the f***ing market with them. I can't believe that this is actually on ebay for this much. Also, I will not recap my previous comments about whether this should be a variant or not in the other thread.

*SQUEE*.
It's NOT a printing error. It's NOT a variant.
"The most valuable comic published since TMNT #1"
This guy is good at pimping his books, but I hate his auction format. He writes too damn much.
The sad thing is that a valiant collector will probably buy it to feel "complete".
I like how he worked Greg's name into the auction to lend the book more credibility.

I found one of those emails from him... Sept. 21, 2004.
He tried to describe the effect, and I thought he was talking about the Gold Edition,
so I told him that it sounded familiar to this:
http://www.valiantfans.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2221
He later sent me a scan that showed it was not a Gold Edition (because it has $3.50 cover price),
and I don't have a record of whether I replied again.
My guess is that I told him it was "interesting".
If I could do it over again, I would have told him that the print run was nearly 1,000,000 copies,
so it's not surprising that some of them are "different".
(I may have already said that in 2004, but I don't have my reply... if I sent one.)
I think this is the same book we talked about 10 days ago...
viewtopic.php?p=363135#363135
At that time, the CGC label mentioned "Gold Edition", but now I see
that it doesn't... perhaps it has very recently been "reslabbed" with
a corrected label?
Personally, I think he should move the decimal place... $29.99 sounds good.
(...and maybe $59.99 if it had been a CGC 9.8)

Did anyone save the scan of that book (or write down the wording). The scan I had seen seems to have been replaced with this one. What is still a bit unregular about the wording is that they specially point out that is has a cover price. Now that it's correctly recognized as not being a gold, there is no need to mention the cover price.ckb wrote:Yes, the missing "gold edition" is key. This one actually looks like it is notated properly with "printing error" and "Ivory logo". Where did the "gold edition" book go????????

Here's a thought....
If all of you who have copies of this were to list them.....NOW....you could take a SIGNIFICANT amount of wind out of these saild.....
Just list them EXACTLY how he lists them, and refer to that auction....and then point out that yours is only 50 cents, or $1, or whatever, and some fool is trying to pimp it out as a variant for some obscene amount of money.
It's an idea....

Other copies are probably in better shape too. A 9.6 is nothing to write home about for a chromium cover book.ZephyrWasHOT!! wrote:Here's a thought....

I am with you. I will post mine for $299 and quote his ebay auction. I just don't know if I could send it to the poor *SQUEE* that actually bought the book.ZephyrWasHOT!! wrote:Here's a thought....

I actually want to send this seller an e-mail asking him if he would like to by my three for a total of $1000. See if he jumps on it. Actually everybody that owns one should send him an e-mail so he can see the multitudes of e-mails from all of the people that have one of these "rare gems." Anybody with me?
