Harby Pink 3500 redeemed...
..but how many were made? Anyone have the info on this?
How do we know that 3500 were redeemed? Whoever gave us that number may know how many were made.

If I remembered correctly 3500 is just the print run # and not the exact amount redeemed by the early Valiant fans. What Valiant did was take the number of coupons redeemed and just round it up with some extra copies printed. Then again the 3500 print run is also being disputed as the Harby pinks just show up way too frequently compared to Unity Red and other variants with higher print runs.

It's unfair to compare with "other books with bigger production". You should compare with "other $50 books". Price will scare up more copies for sale.BUDSHAD wrote:You make a good point ESCAFLOWN4. I do see alot more of these books on ebay than books with bigger production. 3500 just doesnt seem to fit the bill.

I think the way these books were distributed made a difference. Unity Reds only went to dealers and were intended to be for them as a bonus for ordering so many books. Who knows what a lot of dealers did with their one copy after going out of buisiness or whatever.Escaflown4 wrote:If I remembered correctly 3500 is just the print run # and not the exact amount redeemed by the early Valiant fans. Well if that's the case, what about books like Shadowman #6 and Armorines #4, which both books are reported to have higher print runs then Harby Pink. These books were not dealer incentives, but how often do you see them around compared to the Harby Pinks? It simply defies all logic if 3500 is the exact print run. At one point I got 10+ copies of it without even trying to look for them. I see the pinks in every Valiant collection I came across and they're on ebay everyday. To date, I still have not found any Shadowman 6's or Armorines 4's hitting dealer's stock, LCS and comic cons.wrunow wrote:I think the way these books were distributed made a difference. Something I just thought of was this: The people who took the time to send off for the Harby Pink were people who were going to take care of them. The SM #6's or Arms #4's werent sent out as a collectors edition and may have fallen into the hands of people who didnt take care of them, gave them to their kids to play with or what-not.
There is always going to be a certain amount of % of issues lost due to neglect, accident and such. Maybe the % of damaged/destroyed books was greater for the SM#6's and Arm #4's.. and not so hig for the Harby Pinks due to how much effort it took to get them??
Just thinking out loud here..

I agree with you that the Harby Pinks were sent out to collectors who would try their best to keep it in good shape. That's why they're often seen sold in NM and have already flooded the 9.8 CGC census. Now let's say that the SM #6's and Arms #4's were damaged by people who didn't care about condition, then the question is where are they. Harby Pinks are on ebay literally everyday ranging from VF to CGC 9.8. SM#6 and Arms #4 rarely pops up from time to time. Nowadays, most dealers out there already know how much $$ these late Valiant / Acclaims are worth, yet very few even have them available. Given that these two books are only about 7-8 years old, I doubt a majority of them got destroyed.IanAlexavier wrote:Something I just thought of was this: The people who took the time to send off for the Harby Pink were people who were going to take care of them. Eh, I'll have to disagree with that. By the time Valiant came out with the premium books they were commanding a pretty hefty price tag. Maybe after the bottom fell out some made it to the hands of kids or were destroyed, but not while Valiant was having it's heyday.

I think that the copies of Armorines #4 did make it into the hands of the few people who were buying the book...
It was ordered so low and ordered several times by retailers so I'm sure that the print run dropped off from one resolicit to the other...
The only copies I see are few that deside they want to sell an extra or there collection.

I know someone who owns a crapload of Armorines v2 #4 and Unity 2000 #3, he bought them when they first came out.betterthanezra wrote:I think that the copies of Armorines #4 did make it into the hands of the few people who were buying the book...

It's interesting that you would include the letters c-r-a-p in a post mentioning him.Brother J wrote:I know someone who owns a crapload of Armorines v2 #4 and Unity 2000 #3, he bought them when they first came out.betterthanezra wrote:I think that the copies of Armorines #4 did make it into the hands of the few people who were buying the book...
