The legend of Silverface

Post by silverface »

Hello everyone, my name is Darnell. My valiant story started when I was in the 5th grade. The comic boom was in full swing, an I was saving up my lunch money every week to buy X-force 1, Xmen 1, Deathblow and stuff. One Friday, I saw a well drawn picture of a gay guy karate chopping a robot's head off. I had to buy it, if not for the cover, because I had to buy any new #1's regardless of how gay the character looked. Unlike my classmates I actually read all my books and was blown away at the quality of the story. So like any speculating idiot I went back to the comic book store to buy 4 extra copies! I somehow forgot all about the valiant universe and continued collecting Marvel and DC. A few years past and I stopped by my LCM and saw they were selling the Magnus 1 issue for $75! I quickly got my copies and sold two of them to the store for $100! Biggest profit I had ever made in comic books at the ripe age of 14! Like a drunk sailor I spent the $100 on more magnus books. I eventually got to reading Solar which remains my favorite American comic book ever.

Ha! Well done on the sale :thumb:

My big comic store was Death of Superman. A friend of mine who worked at the LCS told me to buy extra copies because it was going to be hot so I bought ten. I went in about three days after the release and the LCS was already selling them for $75. :o I kept one and they sold the other nine for me. My share was $450 and I donated $100 back to my buddy for a fund she had to buy a Death statue. She was so cool. She was the same friend who tipped me off to Valiant when they first came out.

Magnus was so butch he wore a skirt. And the ladies still couldn't get enough.
