SDCC 2007 Thursday
I really tried to sleep during the day after my job crawling under some house on Wednesday but I hardly could get ANYTHING.
I was informed by the guy who was making my shirts that he was having serious issues with the coloring of the Bob Hall image...Thing is if he started working on this when I gave him everything to do it (like 2 weeks before this phone call) this really wouldn't be an issue IMO.
He told me that he could still work on it and have them overnighted to me in San Diego or have everything in color EXCEPT the Harbinger Image....done Wednesday night as I leave for the long drive to SDCC...
One I wasn't going to take the chance of him "Over-nighting" something to me sorry it's not that I trust him or not but after the NY situation with another item never showing up I had him just finish them.
So I picked up my friend from Modesto and headed out to get the shirts on my way out. It's close to 11:00pm on Wednesday. I pull up at this guys place and he is just finishing the shirts up. After another Hour we are seriously on our way to San Diego.
We arrive right around 7:15am and are able to park at the convention center. The line is already seriously long at this time and the show doesn't open for another 2 hours and 45 minutes.
I had pre-payed for my badges, and printed a bar-code that they enter into there computers and print-out our badges..Even though we were there early and in line we didn't get into the convention hall untill just after 11am. Here is the line for those people who already paid and are waiting to get there badges on Thursday...

Once in the show the crowd is CRAZY and like usual it suprises me everytime. I head over to artist alley to make contacts and see if anyone else has shown up I didn't see listed.

Bob Hall wasn't there yet. So I hit the other side of the show and wanted to see if Valiant was maiking an impact on the comic racks. Like usual I didn't see much and each year the dealers that sell Comic Books gets smaller and smaller. I saw a few things, some pre-unity, Nintendo books.
Copies of Super Mario #1, 3-4 were $10.00 each.
Zelda #1 $8.00 and this guy claims to have a CASE of this issue who am I to question him on it when I can see a stack of about 10 on his rack.
If you collect Valiant art then seeing this page raised my eyebrows...

I brought the pages of art with me to SDCC that I just recieved from Mike McKone so I had him sign them all. I headed back over to Artists alley and Bob Hall was there, I paid him for the Tee-shirt image and also look through his pages he brought. I found a few pieces that I JUST had to have
(post those soon)
Bob is one of the most classy guys I have EVER met through not only Valiant but any artist. At this point I hadn't run into any of you guys till MOTA introduced himself to me. He went with me to get his shirt and we hung out for a little bit before other pressing things took place like eating something. At this point I've been up about 36 hours straight and I'm ready to crash.
The show closes at 7pm I really don't buy any books because I don't find anything YET worth buying.
I was up untill at least 10:30-11:00pm before I shut my eyes. Tomorrow being the Valiant panel I was trying to get some rest. I also needed to park as close to the show as I could because the amount of materials I needed for the Panel....SO many trips back and forth wears you down.
First day at SDCC was long and crazy just found out Friday was sold out so I'm expecting some longs crowds tomorrow.

A very heart felt thank you!
For those of us that couldn't go, we've been sitting here waiting for accounts from SDCC, scouring the internet for pertinent news and hitting refresh on the boards every 15 seconds to see if someone put anything up yet...
I'm looking forward to the details on the rest of your trip also (specifically the Valiant Panel of course).
Thanks for the info and keep it coming!

Comicon was a blast. Great time, every day! I brought back three commissions for my IMPERIALS project. Bob Hall was a pleasure and drew one of them. Sergio Carrellio was amazing, and Matt Haley worked hard. I made contact with a few other artists for future commissions for character concepts.
I met Man of the Atom after all these years. Took Mike out to dinner and a movie. He's a great guy to hang out with.
Every day but Saturday was crowded. The TV panels are now completely insane and not worth atteding: they eat up half a day to attend because they are so packed with TV groupies!
All in all a great con and I found awesome deals. I picked up two dozen silver age FLASH, BATMAN, ACTION, JIMMY OLSEN, WORLDS FINEST, and SUPERMAN. My key purchase was FLASH 123! got a beat-up copy for $75.00. It list for $1200 in near-mint. Now I can die peacefully!

Once again, showing that DC has to copy Marvel at some point in history, play "Follow The Leader," so to speak.superman-prime wrote:i dont like what they are doing with flash issues right now

Some people spend their whole lives believing in fairy tales, usually because they don't want to give up the fabulous prizes.
