X-Caliber's first appearance?

Can someone remind me what X-Caliber's first appearance was?

He's that cybernetic assassin guy from X-O # 3. I know he first appeared in a book by another company, but forget which one.

I got in a brief discussion on this on another Valiant board and someone mentioned that in the X-O tpb they changed X-Calibre's name because Steve Englehart had left the company (it was his character). What was X-Calibre called in the tradepaperback?

It was worse than that. Marvel threatened to sue Englehart and Valiant over the name.

The name was changed in the TPB. I forget to what lameness they corrupted the originals.

It's Defiant1's board I was referring to. He runs fan sites on Broadway and Defiant comics and has a fledgling Valiant site (excellent sites, I can usually find them by searching for "Defiant and Broadway Comics" on Yahoo). He has message boards devoted to all three companies but, sadly, few people frequent them
