What is a good price?
Hey dudes, (C-lo's flea market tale and my adventures to the LCSs got me thinking) what is a fair / good price for dead universe books?
Now I am talking about the "commons" not the variants or speicals if there are any.
What is a good price for a common Crossgen book?
A Broadway book?
any ideas?

In most cases the best way to buy them is in bulk off ebay. Buying them one or two at a time and you can wind up paying around cover price, which is rarely worth it.
For example, somebody just bought 200 Ultraverse comics for $10 on ebay ($17 shipping). Buying the same comics for 50 cents each would have been $100 (Duh!). Even buying several different auctions would have been more.
Dead Unis ... Buy in Bulk!

No more than $.25-$.50 cents for ANY Dead Universe book (uh they are DEAD universes). You may see Crossgen books upwards to a $1 but I would only pay that if I had extra cash to blow or it was within the last 100 book of me being at 100% and that would be at a show. I would not expect nor would I pay a $1.00 for a Crossgen book from a board member or private sale.Elveen wrote:Hey dudes, (C-lo's flea market tale and my adventures to the LCSs got me thinking) what is a fair / good price for dead universe books?

Listen, these books are no longer being printed. WHY ? Various reason but primarily they were not popular with the mainstream comic book reader. Crossgen ? Maybe they would have been around today had they not had financial issues and mismanadgement at a certain point but still, Crossgen is no longer running through the throng of convention goers every month.
People are putting price tags on comic books because THEY DONT KNOW THAT THEY ARE WORTHLESS !!! I found one comic shop in TN that had the same comic book still bagged and boarded marked with three different prices THEN found the same book in the $.25 bin (also in a bag and board).
I had one guy try to sell me New Universe books for $3.00 a pop due to the fact that 'these books are still minty in the bag, never been opened. You can NEVER find old books like this still in the bag. And the best thing about these books is that they were written by Ben Shooter who went on to write the Harbinger Universe that had the Iron Man prototype comic in it.'
In all honesty, I believe that all DU comics should be in the $.25 cents to $.50 cents bin and remain there. Prices for DU books should be VERY low.... OR they can just sit in the dumb *SQUEE* LCS owner's box for ANOTHER ten years !!! F@ckin' dill-wads.
And flea markets ? I have NEVER met someone selling comics at a flea market that knew a rat's *SQUEE* about comics but by God whatever they were selling was RARE.

And yes, buy in bulk off Ebay by all means. I am nearing my Eclipse books primarily from Ebay at incredible prices. Nothing like $.05 cents a book.

I can only say - flea markets vary by area, rather widely. Back when I was a teenager, the local (and VERY well-organised) flea market held every weekend at our state fairgrounds used to have TONS of booths with comics in them, but they slowly (and then not-so-slowly) died out, and it's rare to see anything other than comic-cards or maybe some action figures there nowadays. I go every few months and walk around, just to see if anythign pops up. So far... nothing.

Some people spend their whole lives believing in fairy tales, usually because they don't want to give up the fabulous prizes.

Yeah, I usually do Crossgen at $1 a book including shipping as long as someone gets a few. (Still got loads by the way) And, nearly anything else but harder books are about 50 cents including shipping. But, there are some hard books out there like the Inherit The Wind TPB from Broadway, and some of the Continuity Autos and variant covers. But, 99% are a buck or less, so you are better off buying a bunch at a time!
