Re-collecting my Valiant collection
As I said in another post, I'm currently buying all the Valiant set/comics that I used to have but sold because I needed money at the time (mainly Rai, Turok, some small minor sets and the variant issues--I never sold my X-O, Solar, Harbinger or Magnus sets).
I just bought the complete Rai set on Ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... &rd=1&rd=1
I know it seems like a lot of money, but to get the whole set in NM condition was worth it.
I also won this Turok auction:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... &rd=1&rd=1
I'll buy the missing issues at Lonestar Comics to complete the set.
It feels like 1992 all over again.

There's another eBay id to look out for. I think someone linked that auction asking if that was a board member.
Good snag on the Rais. 1 - 5 is hard to get and 2, 3 and 4 are real tricky. The Turoks... not as difficult, and the price you paid reflects that.
You'll start out mostly working on a few sets or series, but you'll want to get them all. It's like a rash, and there is no topical ointment to treat it.

Yeah... I've had the "rash" for two years... it'll stop itching for awhile, but it always comes back.Chiclo wrote:There's another eBay id to look out for. I think someone linked that auction asking if that was a board member.

That was a good buy on the Turoks (as far as I'm concerned).

Will do. I use Lonestar for back issues because I get my new comics shipped to me through them and they piggyback any back issues I get for no extra charge.ckb wrote:When buying from eBay, the ALL IN NM CONDITION part is a "believe it when I see it" venture...
Please send me your want list rather than buying from Lone Star. I am cheaper and will send you books in the actual condition you want.

Yeah, I've been scratching this itch for the last couple months. I think I'm starting to get that itch to get those variant issues as well.Chiclo wrote:There's another eBay id to look out for. I think someone linked that auction asking if that was a board member.

Buying on Ebay can be tricky. I finally picked up a Shadowman Gold (supposed to be in NM condition). The cover is fine. However, the inside looks like it's had some water spilled on it. The pages on the top are stained . . . not real stained, but still noticeable and definitely not near mint.
GRRRRRRR!!

Yeah, unfortunately too many sellers like using NM in the auctions when it doesn't apply in the least. They are usually the same ones that don't know how to ship a book properly either.vkid wrote:Buying on Ebay can be tricky. I finally picked up a Shadowman Gold (supposed to be in NM condition). On a serious note I bought a "Mint" gold book with a bend where the gold logo is, I usually don't care that that much but of all places to have a bend. I had to go online and buy another one.
