Is the Outcast Special worth tracking down? I some how missed it when it came out and I have always wondered if I should track down a copy. Thanks

I just found a copy last week for thirty-three cents. I haven't read it yet, but I'm looking forward to it. :thumb:

Only if you want to get them all.

If you hang out here for too long, you will want to get them all.

I have one.

You should get them all. It's like Pokemon, except different and more obsessive.

With patience, you'll find one of these real cheap, like pennies on the dollar cheap.

It's a bit weird feeling reading it. It's the setup issue for a series that seems to have little connection to the rest of the Valiant universe. And then they changed their minds and just published it as a one-shot.

If you want it to complete the list that's one thing, but don't bother for the story sake.

The story isn't that bad but it has nothing to do with the rest of the Valiant universe. It reminded me of a title published in the 90's by Malibu called Breed.

I didn't realize there was so much support for 'Breed.

I feel the need to start a new DU thread.

Magnus,

Can you share any details of the planned series and whatever connection - if any - it had with the rest of the Valiant Universe?

Chris

No, that was all I know. I spoke to Berdinka before it was published and I didn't get any details about what was planned. One possible clue - I got the impression, right or wrong, that it was his story, more than a normal Valiant story. Kind of a first attempt at what Windjammer later became. That was just my personal impression however, but if that impression is correct, then the series would only have been loosely connected to the rest of the universe. Anyway, I do not know.

I only remember reading the first couple of issues of Breed. It didn't seem that great to me but I was never into the Cosmic storylines normally associated with Starlin's work. Did it ever become a regular series?

Think I never finished it because I quit comics (for a second time) when Valiant quality tanked. The June '94 books were the last books I purchased. My only regret from leaving the hobby was not supporting Jim's efforts with Defiant.

Does anyone else think "The Outcast Special" sounds like a euphemism for "Taking A Deathmate"? :thumb:
What is evil? Some say it is the exact opposite of good. So what is good? Some say pickles are good. If that's true, I'll take evil, because evil is the exact opposite of pickles. Yuck.

I "read the Outcast Special" last night and it was so big I had to stand up to finish.
