Was there some sort of settlement or something with VIP, they were awarded some of the TM's that VEI chose not to challenge I thought such as The Visitor?greg wrote:I don't know, but here's the summary.
Random House = Magnus, Solar, Turok
VALIANT Entertainment = Every other VALIANT and Acclaim character

No settlement as far as I know... but that's TM's.wrunow wrote:Was there some sort of settlement or something with VIP, they were awarded some of the TM's that VEI chose not to challenge I thought such as The Visitor?greg wrote:I don't know, but here's the summary.

The characters belong to Valiant Entertainment, as they have from the beginning.
As far as the "rights" go, Valiant Entertainment has always had the right to tell these stories, new stories, any stories, for these characters, the way they look, the things they do, etc.
That's Valiant, if you ask me.
The rest is just semantics and paperwork.

I've mentioned this before in other posts, but I think that of the three Gold Key characters, Turok is the most expendable. Sure, the Lost Land was cool, particualrly the role it played in Unity and everything that came out of that, but Turok as a character was never my favorite. It was not a bad character, but it was one whose potential was never fully explored and the one major character who seemed somewhat out of place. Solar and Magnus are much more important, imo, if the idea is to restart the VALIANT line along anything close to what it was before. That said, I need to get some GK Turoks. I already have a few Magnus and one or two Solar issues. VALIANT collecting-where the fun is at.

I could even do without MAgnus. I mean, he was interesting, and a link from the past to the future, but he wasn't critical IMO.
Solar, on the other hand, is.
But, IIRC, VEI could publish anything with Phil Seleski, just not anything with the red suit or called Solar. So the Solar guy could be there, he would just look different and have a different name.

Oh man, you're not going to start posting here again are you ? It has been really decent around here for a while now.ManofTheAtom wrote:Is NIO part of VH 2?
I thought it was just Nicieza wasting more of the company's resources on his master plan to get masturbators to buy VALIANT characters by turning the female characters into sluts.

I think that's not a bad idea. IMO. There's only so many robots Magnus can fight before it gets old....again, just my opinion.xodacia81 wrote:I wonder if it would even work to try to bring Rai and Magnus into the "modern" age? I am not in favor of this, but if done correctly, it has potential to be bearable. Anything is better than the psycho from VH2 and the IMAGE girl-thing they did for "Rai".

And i'd love to see Rai in this day and age.
