I came across a comic from July 97 called Army Ants that is actually fairly cool. When I got home and read the back cover which has a story of its conception, the Purple album by STP is mentioned, so of course that was the icing on the cake.

I don't know how scarce this book is, but it's the first issue, black and white art, glossy cover and actually lots of fun. The creato is Michael T. Desing.

Pretty fun book ala Bone and Poison Elves, if you ask me. If anyone could find it, I'd be curious regarding subsequent issues....

The online guide shows 23 issues with prices of $2.50 each in NM. However, no pictures past issue 10, so hard to actually verify numbers after that. But, then again, the images are provided by members. So, it just may be that no one has the book to post.

Actually there was a toy line in the mid 80s called Army Ants, and like the comic its what the name implies.
If I remember correctly they were either orange or blue, had hard PVC sculpts that were actually pretty good, pretty cool weapons and -lol- removable rubber ant *SQUEE*.

And ironically I don't think that they had anything to do with this comic believe it or not, but I could be wrong.

I got in contact with the creator of this book. Looks like I'm gonna land a significant chunk of the collection and a free TPB to fill in my holes in the story. I'm tellin' you guys that issue one was just fun as hell. It's a second printing, but I have the first printing on it's way. If you guys want a niche comic that's scarce as hell, but fun check this out, seriously.

You'll get a mature, yet back-to-childhood story and a very hard to find indie run to boot. Honestly, based on personalities and collection habits here, it's like this book was designed for this community's amusement.
