Quarter bin raid!!!
Gettin ready to raid a quarter bin - contacted a LCS and inquired about Valiant - 'I have a bunch of Valiant in the quarter bin - not sure what titles or anything. You will just have to come in and see for yourself' was the reply I got. Looks like there are still shops that have untouched bins - or they restocked?
I will let you know if anything good comes out of it...wait...quarter Valiants...something good already has come out of it and I'm not even there yet
I am addicted to this forum...I can't quit buying things now that I have found a place dedicated entirely to something I enjoy. I will try and refrain from drunk posting though, it is kinda like drunk dialing, but nerdier.

Re: Quarter bin raid!!!
If you're talking about a shop in Indy I'd say you'll likely be disappointed... There's the Downtown Comics stores, the Comic Carnival Stores, & D Puppy Comics. I can't think of any other shops in Indy...cjmiller2213 wrote:Gettin ready to raid a quarter bin - contacted a LCS and inquired about VALIANT - 'I have a bunch of VALIANT in the quarter bin - not sure what titles or anything. Comic Carnival is overpriced on EVERYTHING. I'd say you're not talking about their stores since they've never, to my knowledge, had any quarter bins.
D Puppy has a bunch of back issues, but most are junk & they are in absolutely no order.
Downtown Comics sometimes has something nice, but it's not often since they don't change out back issues very often. Every now & again you can get a deal if you hit them at the right time though.
Good luck man! I hope you find some gems.

yea
Went comic shop up in Castleton - nothing amazing for sure - did find a Harby 2 w/coupon - VF - VF+ my guess. Other than that - bunch of shadowman 14-30, RAI & FF 10,14,17,20, EW Yearbook 1, and Valiant Vision Starter Kit (ha) - some other randoms also, just cause.
for $5.00 I am happy, not too far a drive either - the dude says the owner is supposed to add comics on Monday's, I asked and supposedly he is going to be in tomorrow and add around 6 boxes of stuff - couldn't confirm Valiant though. I am going anyway to see - just in case their is a Unity Red in there

ill take a look at all of them, see if i'll unload any. ill maybe take a picture of them together. wouldn't want to take pictures individually of each. ill do a list and put who it is signed by.

customer service
I'll tell you what - there are some LCS owners/managers that are can be downright rude. I called today to inquire about the boxes supposedly being sorted through and the guy was an *SQUEE*. Here is a snipet of the dialogue that ensued:
ME: Yea, I was in there yesterday buying up all of your Valiants you had in the quarter bin - I was told you would be in today and sorting throught some boxes in back, possibly restocking the quarter bin's with more Valiant.
LCS: Well I haven't gotten to it.
ME: Any chance you know when you are going to?
LCS: No - don't plan on doing it anytime today.
ME: Is there anyway I can give you my number or email address so you can contact me when you do sort through them - I am very interested in any Valiants you have.
LCS: Nope, all quarter bin comics are first come/first serve basis and I have way to many things to do than to start calling customers when I sort through quarter bin boxes. You can come in later this week - I may or may not have sorted through them, you will just have to try your luck.
Try my luck - I will show him luck. He will be lucky that I don't go over there and explain the relationship between a knuckle and nose cartilage.
Am I being unreasonable asking this?? Do LCS owners/managers just not give a sh*t anymore? I know all of them are not like this - there are probably some on here that can attest to this - as a majority, they LIKE helping people don't they - that is what the entire business is for isn't it - HELPING PEOPLE FIND WHAT THEY WANT?
I am done with this rant - I just get *SQUEE* off too easily I think.

They don't CARE. They are BUSINESS FAILURES, for the most part. The ones still in operation just haven't had the boom lowered yet. This doesn't apply to EVERYONE, but it applies to a VAST portion.Do LCS owners/managers just not give a sh*t anymore?
They don't care. They don't understand that a sale is a sale. They don't understand that WHILE you're in there looking for quarter books you might see a $100 item that you want.I know all of them are not like this - there are probably some on here that can attest to this - as a majority, they LIKE helping people don't they - that is what the entire business is for isn't it - HELPING PEOPLE FIND WHAT THEY WANT?
They don't understand that.
I CHEER....stand up and CHEER...every time a junk seller goes out of business.
Nah. Perfectly justifiable. Go in there and explain the situation. Maybe you can convince him in PERSON.I am done with this rant - I just get *SQUEE* off too easily I think.
If *I* was a billionaire, and had as much money as I needed, I'd open a store next to every single crappy shop in the US.....and drive 'em ALL back to McDonald's, where they belong.

thanks
and what worked best for me and the quarter bins, was that i went to every store in a 40 mile radius around my home. tried to hit the closer ones maybe a couple times a week and the others maybe once. they got to know my face and i found out that most of these guys had boxes and boxes of valiants in the basement or a backroom just sitting there for years. so i made lists and left them with them and they pulled what they could for me.
but sounds like that guy is a bit of a prick though. they should be happy to unload their valiants. someone wants them, why not go through the trouble. isn't that how they get customers?
but good luck anyway

not bad idea
Making a list and giving it to them isn't a bad idea. I feel I have indicated to them my desire for VALIANTS more than once but as Zeph stated - 'THEY JUST DON'T CARE'.
I will probably visit them more often now - even though I would like to pop the guy one in the mouth.
Good find anyways and as always, let us know what you want to get rid of.
And Zero - you nailed the comic carnival on the head - they have a bunch of back issues - BUT FOR $3-$4 A PIECE!!! - They don't discriminate though between issues - I did pick up a SOLAR #1 from them for $5 so that was cool - pretty good condition to VF+-NM.
After I went to the quarter bin I called comic carnival and let them know I picked up some of the issues they had marked for $4 for a quarter - I offered them $1 per issue and they still said no - even though they know everyone else has quarter bins with Valiant back issues in them - THEY STILL SAID NO - no bargaining, no 'I'll sell you 50 issues for $1 a piece' or anything. I am getting sick of stupid pricks.
