Mmmm... sorta.

"Organic" usually means compounds made up of chains of hydrocarbons and other things. Methane is generally considered the simplest organic compound, and Carbon monoxide is much simpler.

"Organic" usually means compounds made up of chains of hydrocarbons and other things. Methane is generally considered the simplest organic compound, and Carbon monoxide is much simpler.
Mmmm...not sorta:

or·gan·ic Pronunciation[awr-gan-ik] Pr–adjective 1. noting or pertaining to a class of chemical compounds that formerly comprised only those existing in or derived from plants or animals, but that now includes all other compounds of carbon.

Anything containing the element Carbon (C) is now classified as "organic."

Therefore..carbon monoxide is organic.

Most folks think that "organic" means "natural"....it doesn't. They've been dumbed down by hippie advertising.

Most folks also think "all natural" means "good for you."

Arsenic is 100% all natural. It will also kill you.

Most nightshades are poisonous....also 100% all natural.

The venom of the Black Mamba...also 100% all natural....from a single bite can kill 20-40 grown men.

What does this have to do with organic...? Well, not much, except the common misconceptions that "environmentally sound" hucksters have convinced the foolish public of.

Dangling participles RULE!

We eat organic foods becuase my wife has an autoimmune disease, and all the pestisides and chemicals and crap they put on the food is bad for her on a cellular level.

Her immune system is destroying her body. It is workning against her, and right now there is really noithing we can do about it.

We have seen many, many doctors (like at least one a week) and nutritionists, a bunch of other "-ists" that I really don't know what they do. Then medicines make her sick and cause us to have emergency room visits. She has been on all kinds of pills and drips and chemo and crap and more crap, basically...... it's just posion (for her, if it's working for you or someone you love, feel lucky). So basically, right now, she is on very little medication. Her dr. has told us, basically in tears, that she is the only person that he has not been able to help. She already has bone loss and joint desinagration and various other wonderful things.

Chainging our diet is one of the only things that helps.

Now the organic" food is hard to find (at times) and always VERY expensive. But.......

There has been a noticable change. Just know that all the crap the put into and on the food, to make it bigger and last longer in your pantry, your body has to work to process all of it.

Think about it..... how long should bread stay in your pantry without molding?

We have to go and shop at least twice a week (which is a hassle), but it is working. We have totally changed our diet. And believe it or not, the organic food does taste better, and it is better for you.

Sorry to rant.

My comments, of course, have nothing to do with people who are FORCED to eat "organic" because of autoimmune and other diseases.

Just the "corporatists in flipflops" who have discovered a huge market of dumb people who are willing to shell out MORE money than they need to for food that is "organic", when, in reality, the reason pesticides and artificial fertilizers were INVENTED was BECAUSE of "organic" foods that people have eaten for millenia.

And for the most part...pesticides and artificial fertilizers work...the good they do (vastly increased production, incredible decrease in food-borne illness, etc) far outweighs the potential harm it might do.

But hippie extremist morons, who think with their "heart" (and they don't even do THAT, they think with some twisted, warped, completely insane worldview) and not with their brains, for example, succesfully got DDT outlawed because of "environmental concerns."

Fact: Malaria and other mosquito-borne illnesses were VERY much under control by the 60's with the use of DDT.

Fact: DDT CANNOT be linked to endangering bird populations with any degree of accuracy.

http://www.junkscience.com/ddtfaq.htm

Fact: "Organic" fertilizers, like COW DUNG, have TREMENDOUS amounts of harmful bacteria in them, and have often contributed to food-borne illness and DEATH.

Fact: "Organic" foods are not always healthier than non-organic food (the ostensible REASON to EAT organics in the first place!) In fact, organic foods are no more nutritious than non-organics.

Fact: "Organic" farming is INCREDIBLY inefficient, and if were done on the large scale required to feed the world, would have devastating effects on the environment...they very thing "organic" shills are trying to convince you they're working to AVOID!

http://www.findarticles.com/p/articles/ ... _n13628978

"There's no scientific evidence whatsoever showing that organic food is healthier. So why bother with a National Organic Rule? When the thing was in development, the Clinton administration's secretary of agriculture, Dan Glickman, offered an answer: "The organic label is a marketing tool. It is not a statement about food safety." In other words, those USDA labels are intended to give people warm fuzzies for buying pricey food."

Fact: Corprorations, DISGUISED as hippie extremist morons, saw the niche market that was unfilled, and set about to fill it with AMAZING efficacy. They then priced "organic" foods MUCH, MUCH HIGHER (as in, "not justified by nor equivalent to the cost of producing non-") than "non-organic" foods, and then proceeded to produce food that WASN'T EVEN 100% ORGANIC in many cases because of ineffecient quality control and the fact that they were ALLOWED to use "safer" pesticides where necessary!

http://www.findarticles.com/p/articles/ ... _105370796

Fact: large corporations like Wal-Mart and Costco are now getting into the "organics" market....great for us, right? Lower prices, right? That's the altruistic goal...but there's nothing to stop these corporations from "fudging" the "organic" status, a little bit here, a little bit there, to ensure consistent quality across the board. Small, organic farms don't do this because they are run by individuals who practice what they preach regarding organic food....but it goes without saying that Costco and Wal-Mart are NOT on the same page in that regard.

Fact: Not all "organic" food tastes better than non-organic food.

http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/co ... 005001.htm

So....for your specific situation, Elveen, you have my sympathy, and I didn't "lump you in" with the "organic freaks" who currently have a large financial and political stake in this whole affair. It would be wonderful if we could produce bacteria free, disease free, truly organic food for the entire world to eat....but until and if that happens, I'll keep my eyes open regarding the "organics" market.

Just like many things in life, what started out with GOOD INTENTIONS has been corrupted and poisoned by people with "other-than-pure" motives.
