Andromeda (Armstrong's wife)
Just finished re-reading the storyline with her at the beginning of the series, & was wondering if her alleged immortality was ever explained. How long has she been alive? IIRC, Ivar, Gilad, & Aram are the only "born" immortals in VH1.
Re: Andromeda (Armstrong's wife)
Don't remember reading much more about her. Maybe some of the Greek gods were Harbingers or similar? Maybe some had prolonged lives? There was a mention once that Aram was one of the Greek gods (not canon, it was what someone mentioned, so it might be wrong).Robbstrd wrote:Just finished re-reading the storyline with her at the beginning of the series, & was wondering if her alleged immortality was ever explained. Don't think anything was ever stated, but one can make some coherent guesswork.

I think in Eternal Warrior #3 (immediately after Unity), Alcott's daughter says Gilad is like Hercules & he replies "No, that was my brother."magnusr wrote:Don't remember reading much more about her. Good memory, that's the one. Statements like that I consider "heresay" when trying to figure out the Valiant universe. I mean, Gilad's not the type to joke or anything, but still, it's not something we have been shown.Robbstrd wrote:I think in Eternal Warrior #3 (immediately after Unity), Alcott's daughter says Gilad is like Hercules & he replies "No, that was my brother."
Were there any other references to characters from similar mythologies?
As for Andromeda, how should we categorise her abilities? Changing the shape of others is almost necromantic. Long life also, or possibly Geomantic. Her influence on others is Harbinger-like, but we've seen it in that necromantic lady as well. And so on.
How about Aram's satchel?

Re: Andromeda (Armstrong's wife)
One issue of Eternal Warrior claimed that Gilad was King Arthur, but this is impossible as the story of Arthur clearly states that he was a kid when he pulled the sword from the stone, as well as also contradicts Arthur's birth.magnusr wrote:Were there any other references to characters from similar mythologies?

Re: Andromeda (Armstrong's wife)
Well, given the fact that the historical Arthur is vastly different from Mallory's (et al) version, I think it's definitely possible. IIRC, there was also an issue of EW (w/ the Immortal Enemy) which implied Gil was Robin Hood, and events in EW #1 bear a strong resemblance to the David & Goliath story.ManofTheAtom wrote:One issue of Eternal Warrior claimed that Gilad was King Arthur, but this is impossible as the story of Arthur clearly states that he was a kid when he pulled the sword from the stone, as well as also contradicts Arthur's birth.magnusr wrote:Were there any other references to characters from similar mythologies?

Well, the EW story specifically focused on Gilad/Arthur waking in the Island of Avalon after being taken there by the three sisters, so who knows.Robbstrd wrote:Well, given the fact that the historical Arthur is vastly different from Mallory's (et al) version, I think it's definitely possible. It may be that the writer was trying to do what the King Arthur movie from a few years ago did, and that would fit with the VALIANT Universe, but who knows.

Armstrongs satchel..
Yes, I think Armstrongs satchet was a neat little plot that never had a chance to be fleshed out.. what a bummer.. Kind of like an Ark of the Covenent kind of thing.
Didnt A&A stop right in the middle of the a story line with a kid grabbing the satchel and a mummy was after him or something?

And yet Armstrong still drinks and romances the ladiesdave wrote:after thousands of years EVERYTHING would get boring...

This is a great topic...it makes me wonder if A&A was a concept that BWS brought to Valiant and Shooter just let him run wild with, even if it meant inconsistencies with powers-as-they-were-established.

A&A
I really cant see a new Valiant U without the three immortals.. i think there needs to be some work on Timetraveler though.. pretty weak story ... but I love A&A and EW as well..
It maked me sick to think about how well this universe was doing and then just came crashign down... of course, Ive read all the info on why.. but it still makes no sense... [/u]

Yeah, but BWS could have had it plotted all the way through #12. It seemed a pretty solid story arc. (so much so that they could have ended the series and most people would have been happy)
But I see what you're saying...he could have snuck her in after Shooter left, since the universe became more magical post-Shooter.
Now that I know how it turned out, I would have been happier had it ended after for instance issue 12.Shakespeare wrote:Yeah, but BWS could have had it plotted all the way through #12.
