Chaos Effect

Post by Elveen »

Hey fellas, I think I have about all of the Chaos Effect books. Is it worth my time to get them out and read them in order?

If so is there a recommended book-by-book reading order.

Thanks,
Chrisitan

When I read them, I followed the listing in the 3-page ad hyping the release. I think that you can find it in all of the first week's Chaos Effect books - if not, I know it's in the books that came out the month before and (I think) in Chaos Effect Alpha.

I tried to follow that order too... it was still kind of annoying and confusing to me. Which was sad b/c I was really looking forward to it once I got to that point in my rereading. Something... something about the "feel" of the story just didn't click with me. And I kind of wished it would have had a more definite order to it.

but then again... it was the CHAOS effect....

When you read them, don't expect another Unity type event that's for sure.

I here you. :thumb: It was not what I was looking for. It was more like CHAOS. It could have been a hick of a lot better story line.

Hello Fellow Valiant Fans,

This is my first post on these boards. I think it very cool keeping Valiant alive an well here.
But, when I saw a thread abouth Chaos Effect I had to make a comment. I personally loved this series. I loved it so much that I had the whole story professionally bound.
I think that one of the porblem that Valiant has faced with fans and readers that they could no longer live up to the hype that the leeches..er I mean the specultors, and that every story is compared to everything that has come before (Unity and Shooter). What if Chaos Effect came out before Unity? Chaos Effect was a really good story. I enjoyed every page. But, then for me Valiant can do no wrong. Sit back man and enjoy these comics.
I just want to say again what a wonderful site this is and a fantastic message board. I must go and continue to read these wonderful words of wisdom within this site.
Best to all/Steve Ogden

The Shadowman/SOTVU/Dr.Mirage arc was pretty good.

The X-O/Armorines was kinda forced since all of the characters would have been useless in they had been on earth, actually this arc could have been really good if the characters had been forced to rely on more on themselves instead of the second skins.

I don't remember any of the others of the top of my head except the Turok. That issue introduced a character that was supposed to be a huge nemesis for Turok I think. Unfortunately we never heard from him again.

Welcome aboard Steve. There is a lot to learn here and some good people to interact with.

Don't agree with Chaos Effect being that good but your right about it being unfair to compare them to the preunity books.....what can be? Solar #1 has pulled me back......twice!

Regardless, enjoy the site and the boards. :thumb:

I agree some people just trash the series, and it was an ok series.

I recently acquired all but one of the books in Chaos and am about half way through reading it. (paid 25 cents per book in a "Going out of Business" sale)

It isn't as bad as I was assuming it would be, in fact I always found Unity rather disjointed and while this is as disjointed (with some weak chapters) it is not turning out to be a bad story at all. A rather good story with some bad chapters(Secret Weapons, Ninjak, EW/A&A).

Gonna wait until the end to judge it completely.
What we need is innovation and even revolution—but not so much in the form of marketing ploys and doohickeys. What is needed is bold creative vision, excellent stories, and brilliant storytelling, in a word, entertainment. -- Jim Shooter

i think that the idea for chaos was pretty good, and i totally agree with what was said earlier-if everyone had been forced to "live off the land" so to speak it could have been better...bloodshot could have been taken right to the brink of death before it ended...and then healed in the last poosible second. stuff like that. now that i think of it though-not sure i ever read all of them. didn't have the cash back in the day...
