I'd be pretty sure it was downgraded because of spine split.

Heart breaking stuff to look at one graded lower then 8.5  If it was a little cheaper I might consider buying it. But you can find a NM one at that price so why bother? (once you include the $7 shipping vs the $3.85 for regular shipping).

Hrbinger 1 is the hardest Valiant to find in NM. The cover stock was thinner so it was prone to staple tears.

The scary part is... the book looks great... and it has the coupon...
So if it WASN'T in that CGC 6.5 holder, it would probably sell
for $25+ as an "ungraded, looks NM to me" regular Ebay auction.

I've said it before....and I'm probably going to say it again with the next words I type....but CGC has given me the most amazing sense of vengeance acquired ever. All these idiots....and that's the kind term...thinking that anything with a cover still attached is 'MINT CONDITION!!!' and these fools send their books in expecting CGC to agree with them....

...and time after time after time, the words 'I was SURE it would grade higher!' makes me laugh maniacally. After YEARS of sellers being arseholes when I inform them that the FF #48 with a 3 inch crease isn't a VF/NM, and having them...UNBELIEVABLY...argue with me.....it just makes me so happy.

I *know* I shouldn't....but, I'm only human. :)

I'm almost tempted to submit the worst, off-center, torn, urine soaked copy of XO Database I can find and see how low I can get the grade to be. I'll sign it with a crayon.

Too late...

Someone already beat you to it... except they used Ronald McDonald #3.
