Re-Reading: Magnus Robot Fighter #9

I thought we could do a book a day (that way people can read one every day or catch up on weekends), talk about it on its own, in the context of whats next, in regards to what expectations it creates and vote on how good it is. I don't have to be the one that posts everyday. If I miss a day or if someone wants to take over please do

For voting think of your single favourite comic book (not just VALIANT) as the benchmark - thats a 10 - and grade according to that.

Make sure to mention what you like'd about the book, what you didn't, what you wish they would have done, your favourite panels, lines of dialogue, little bits of trivia etc.

We establish Syncron and the "new" Leeja. Slagger makes an amusing "replacement" for Magnus. We once again return to the themes of war and intolerance and how easy it is to resort to both. Wonderful stuff. A 9 :thumb:

Good solid stuff. When I first read this issue I was worried that the quality might dip a little after the first 8, but the title is still going strong.

The epics may be over, but the solid, intelligent stories are still here. And we once again analyse the differences, and similarities, between humans and robots. The robots show us as strong personalities as the humans do, which is important, and they help Leeja become a strong personality. As Shooter transformed Magnus, he now transforms Leeja, and for added irony he lets the robots make her more human.

Great end quote btw.

Seaborn's synopsis:
Magnus returns to North Am from Japan. Security forces try to arrest him but Slagger intervenes and lets Magnus go. Magnus then heads to the Goph Levs. In Yosemite Park the Rogues are building a city for their kind, Synchron. Leeja, assisting Tekla, is believed by her father, President Clane, to have been kidnapped. General Mimsy orders Slagger to Synchron but he refuses and she has him psychoprobed. Magnus is then sent to rescue Leeja but must first battle E-7 and his minions. Tekia halts the battle and Leeja informs Magnus that she is staying voluntarily. Magnus reports this to President Clane who has Magnus arrested and sent to be psycho-probed. The Senate of North Am votes to wage war on Synchron. They fire the Hadron Cannon at the robot city but only manage to enrage E-7.
