I thought that he would be asking about the Valiant Universe...I dont think that events in Vol 3 count in that universe.Rai-fan wrote:Uhh...but he killed Jack Boniface in every dimension & walked away unharmed, according to the Jim Shooter-written story in Shadowman Vol. 3 # 4.
So he's still alive, right?

Touche. I know most board-folk consider VH2 & 3 to be apocryphal. In this case, I would too.
Except that the story was written by Jim Shooter and clearly intended to answer & expand on the "How would Shadowman (Jack Boniface) die in his own book when published in 1999?" question.
The way it was done neither invalidates the death shown in Unity or the Rai 0 events. For me, it was a neat twist, and probably the highlight of the whole Acclaim VH2/3 abortion.

Ok, so what defines the Darque Power, then? If Master Darque might still be around and necromantic energy exists, then what was really gained by Jack Boniface's sacrifice? Also, was it ever revealed what happened to Jack Boniface after Shadowman #43? I guess it could be assumed that he landed SPLAT! but was able to heal himself but I'm not sure.
Was the Darque Power the excess amount of necromantic energy that was released when Solar destroyed his original universe? I seem to recall reading that somewhere. Also, if I'm remembering right, did the Chaos Effect event also have something to do with the Darque Power or was that a totally separate event? My reading rentention isn't as good as I'd like it to be, I guess!

Secrets of the Valiant Universe #1, I believe.Brother J wrote:I seem to recall reading that somewhere.
Separate event. It was the necrommantic energy from the end of time, no?Brother J wrote:Also, if I'm remembering right, did the Chaos Effect event also have something to do with the Darque Power or was that a totally separate event?

I know the quoteBloodOfHeroes wrote:Um, except I mentioned the actual quote from Rai #0 and it doesn't have one word about Master Darque dying in it.myron wrote:I do believe architect said it...per shadowman and Rai 0

could darque survive without the darque power? If that answer is yes, tell me how, if no...then he is gone, kaput, morte, dead...

X-O Whacked Darque
X-O did whack Darque after he corrupted the X-O armor. Aric crept in and slit his throat and then taunted him as he did.
I love Shooter as much as the next guy, but UNITY 2000 should be like when you messed up playng hoops as a kid. You'd say "Do Over" and it was like nothing ever happened.
UNITY 2000, for as enthused as I was at the time because it held so much promise, should not have happened.

I already answered this, above. Darque existed long before the Darque power. Necromantic energy will still be around, as people die after 1999. That's how (and was explained earlier, as well). He *might* be dead, but no one knows for sure. Since no one saw him die and Rai #0 doesn't say he dies, it's dangerous and foolish to say that he's taking a dirt nap. He was killed in X-O MANOWAR but didn't he get better?myron wrote:could darque survive without the darque power? If that answer is yes, tell me how, if no...then he is gone, kaput, morte, dead...

Weaker, yes, but he didn't exactly "hide out" before he received the Darque Power. And Shadowman "gave his life" ridding the world of the Darque Power. I'll let MOTA tell you if that was Jack, Maxim, or someone else...Ryan wrote:So if he is alive now (Circa 2004 Valiant Universe), is it safe to assume he is much weaker because of the loss of the 'Darque power' and hiding out (like Obi-Wan)?

but in SoVU 2 he was sucked into Maxim. Jack feels it "like a door shut" and maxim rides off into the night...I would hardly call that "hiding out"...of course all that was during Chaos effect...BloodOfHeroes wrote:Weaker, yes, but he didn't exactly "hide out" before he received the Darque Power.
