Re: What comics are you reading now?
I just finished reading Jupiter's Legacy 1-3. It's a great book. Best thing about it is how much story there is - not as decompressed as most current books. Art is great. Lots of interesting characters.
My only complaint is I wanted more of the 1920s storyline - I hope it is revisited in a flashback (I get the feeling there will be). Again, like Lazarus, I'll probably read this in trades (or more likely when Image has another digital sale).

Read Black Science 1 and 2. Meh. It's R-rated Sliders. It couldn't be a more blatant ripoff of Sliders really.
I don't think I'll be reading any more of this unless I hear great things from some of you about later issues.
Getting ready to read Manifest Destiny, which will complete all the Image books I picked up during the end of year sale.

Re: What comics are you reading now?
Just read Manifest Destiny #1. Not bad, but not great. Too wordy, actually, which surprised me as I'm always upset with the level of decompression. I could see me picking up all the issues at the next Image digital sale. I'm in no hurry to follow this, though. Lots of potential, though.

Re: What comics are you reading now?
I've said this multiple times, but I will reiterate here. I would prefer a book that showcases the best work of both writer and artist no matter the delay (reasonable delay that is - a one year hiatus would be a bit much) than have books come out every 30 days like clockwork but suffer from multiple artist, rushed work, poor writing, editorial mistakes, etc.

And I think Saga is the perfect example of this. they have their scheduled breaks and it doesn't hurt the quality and certainly doesn't seem to hurt the sales either.lorddunlow wrote:I've said this multiple times, but I will reiterate here. Chew TPB #7 ... always humorous, some nice plot twists..be interesting to see where it goes from the toes...
Fables TPB #18...liked it but seemed like filler rather than part of the actual Fables storyline

Re: What comics are you reading now?
Read this week's Valiant of course.
Read Umbral #3 and I'm really enjoying it. The world is really starting to take shape. Great characters being set up, great dialogue, but that dang lettered - I wish they would get someone else to letter this book. Anyone who likes a dark fantasy should check it out - it's like Dark Crystal meets Pulp Fiction.
Avengers World #1 - decent book which is really a continuation of the Avengers storyline pre-Infinity.
Re-read some East of West. #6 is quite possibly the best single issue I've ever read of any comic book. I cannot wait for more of the Rangers! They are just way too cool. I actually think I'll go back and read it and #7 again right now!

Okay. I just read EoW #5-8. What an awesome story. Such great art. This book is on a whole 'nother level!

#19 ("Snow White") is better.myron wrote: Fables TPB #18...liked it but seemed like filler rather than part of the actual Fables storyline
#18 ("Cubs in Toyland") was OK. It was pretty interesting since it had a rather morbid tone which doesn't appear until midway through the book.

Read Deadly Class . I really liked the art, but thought the story was ok. I feel this has potential, so I will keep up with it.
Pull List: I only buy TPB's, HC's and Hellboy comics
Re: What comics are you reading now?
Agreed. I was taking the story much too casually until I realized there was not going to be any coming back from...stuff.Chiclo wrote:Cubs in Toyland was haunting.Savant wrote:#19 ("Snow White") is better.myron wrote: Fables TPB #18...liked it but seemed like filler rather than part of the actual Fables storyline

What comics are you reading now?
Read a few things tonight:
Four Eyes by Joe Kelley. 400yrs sent me the first issue of this series about two years ago. I finally got all the issues and read them. This is an awesome series. The writing from the little boy's perspective (Giuseppe) is fantastic. Fuimiara's art is awesome. Great series. I hope Joe Kelley can get the next few issues of this series out this year.
Whispers by Josh Luna - I liked the concept, but the story was just ok. Overall I felt like the story could have been better and the ending seemed rushed. This was a disappointment because I like the luna brothers writing.

I still haven't read the last few issues. I bet low sales screwed up the story on this book because the first few issues that I read we're good.caxiotis wrote:

I thought the first four issues were really good and had me hooked. The last two issues took a down turn for me. The way it ended was just not........well you'll see if you finish it.400yrs wrote:I still haven't read the last few issues.
