I have to stop checking out this thread because you guys keep coming up with these great books to read!Big Red wrote:I'm seriously considering picking this up. The art looks fantastic! And I love Remender's writing.Brother Darque wrote:Got the first issue of Black Science.
its great, pick it up if you love old school sci-fi comics.

The sci-fi aspect is what attracted me to X-O Manowar in the first place. I just added the DCBS #1 variant and #4 to my February order. Now I just have to track down issues 2 and 3 at a local store.
Thanks!

I'm sensing a pattern here. You guys recommend "East of West" and I buy it. Re: What comics are you reading now?
Sword of Sorcery #6-8 overall a good series it's a pitty DC canceled it. Amethyst was an interesting fantasy story that reminded me a lot of the original Crossgen books. Even the back-ups Beowulf and Stalker: The Man Without a Soul were cool and decent respectfully. The build up around Eclispo and the Black Diamond in the New 52 felt like a big deal and now it seems like it's was for nothing because Geoff Johns wanted the various Justice Leagues to fight each other and then the villains fight the CSA for 9 months.
I'm reading The Transformers: Robots In Disguise #15-22 I just finished the first arc and guess who wins? It's isn't Megatron or Bumblebee it's Starscream and now I'm starting The Prelude to Dark Cybertron arc. Then hopefully I'll read The Transformers: More Than Meets the Eye #15-22.

Re: What comics are you reading now?
Just read Umbral #2 (Image Drm-free digital comics rule!) and I'm really liking it a lot. It's the first comic I've sought out completely on my own (not recommended by someone else or a website and not written by an author I already follow). It's full on dark fantasy, and it sort of just throws you into the world without a lot of explanation (which according to the current EW thread, both of these things are seen as negative things - not to me at all).
I'm thinking it will be a pretty awesome book in a few months when more elements have been fully fleshed out. I'm sure the #1 is down to $1.99 now, so why don't you guys give it and the Image digital thing a try?
As for the Image digital, I mentioned in the digital comics thread that they have the first 4 issues of Stray Bullets for free for a limited time!
I'm quickly becoming quite the Image fanboy - both the creative and business sides of the company.

I think you mean Brad Meltzer & Ed Benes. If so, I pity you.....I found that series really dull. Then again, Meltzer usually doesn't do much for me.Lightning Strike wrote:I'm re-reading Geoff Johns' and Ed Benes' JLA

Re: What comics are you reading now?
some recent reads:
caught up on Superior Spider-Man enjoying that WAY more than I thought I would. It's a really fun read.
A really awesome Vertigo book called Marzi: A Memoir that I bought from the library for 25 cents. It's the story of a little girl growing up behind the Iron Curtain in Poland. Great book. At times it's funny, heartwarming and then sometimes kind of heartbreaking.
caught up on the New 52 Flash. I enjoyed it for the first while but I felt really let down by the Reverse Flash story. I love the new redesign of Reverse Flash though.
the first 5 TPB's of Sweet Tooth, loving this book.
read a huge pile of Spidey books from 91-92. ASM at the time was meh, Web of Spider-Man sucks, but the J.M. DeMatteis Spectacular Spider-Man stuff is really damn good. Especially the three part Vulture story "Funeral Arrangements"
edit- forgot to mention the "adjectiveless" Spider-Man is HORRENDOUS

Re: What comics are you reading now?
Just read some non-Valiant books off my pull today.
The last 2 Walking Dead books. I'm a fan, a big fan. I'm really interested to see what happens with Negan.
The newest Chew book. I like this book, but it's not the same as it was in the beginning. I've always liked Chew and I still do, but it is not as good as it was. Still very good, but it gets a bit bogged down with all the powers in the book.
East of West. I'll post in the EoW thread.
I have the last 2 Saga books to read next.
