Nice! Did it go on ok?

I found that placing a towel over it once the surface is flat and then steaming a few seconds at a time worked really well. Also, once it is fixed well on front side, I steamed through the back as well.

Looks great!

Good luck with the donation process! Hopefully a local comic store can help you get good pricing through Diamond or even ordering them through InStockTrades for lower price.

The return of H.A.R.D. Corps has brought me ALL IN to Valiant and I have caught up on all the TPs for Archer & Armstrong, Bloodshot, Harbinger and X-O while getting Harbinger Wars monthly. I also tracked down the POC Hardcovers from 2008.

Congrats on your first post jthuconn and thanks! Our LCS is actually going to give us a great deal on ordering the books and any money that we save from doing this we can put towards the next batch!

I actually avoided going on any forums for a long time because of negative experiences that I had with other ones (lucasarts, gaming sites, etc) but since I started actually posting here more I found out how awesome the community is.

That is great that you are getting involved with fanartfriday too. Here's to many more posts ;)

I have started volunteering with the Boy Scout troop that meets at my church. I may sew the patch onto my uniform where the patrol patch would go.

If there is any concern about donated books going to a book sale, you could donate new tpbs to your local high schools, I bet they would take them.

Got my patch today. Thank you!

That's interesting about the library donations. I believe a lot of them do end up at the sales. There must be a proper submission policy that the various publishers and small presses use. Hope these make it into circulation.

I don't have the books yet, but I am going to visit the local branch today and ask some questions. I will let you know what I find out!

I just got home from visiting 4 different libraries where I did some sleuthing and got some pretty great information-

Assumptions were correct in that almost everything that gets put into the donation box goes toward the book sale. This is because they assume that these are just books that you are done with and want to get rid of. I spoke with the librarians and let them know that a group of fans pooled their money to purchase some books for the purpose of putting them into circulation. They then referred me to the person in charge of the library acquisitions for the graphic novel department and in all four cases the answer was yes, they would be willing to put the books into circulation, however they said that it always helps when they can process them all at the same time. I guess that it involves a bit more work than they usually have to do when they simply get the books from their usual vendors.

Because of this advice I changed the order that I had placed with my LCS for the 40 Harbinger trades to 10 each of the Harbinger, X-O, A & A, and Shadowman volume 1s. The next patches can go towards 10 Bloodshot volume 1s and when I have the all five titles I will donate them as a set. That way we can get a good collection in a library that we know will keep them on the shelves. It makes a lot of sense to give a group of books to a library that wants them in their collection rather than a book at a time.

Then, for any future patch runs we will just need to just find some more libraries that understand what we are doing and are willing to help us out in the same way! I also emphasized that these were brand new books which came out last year and they were for teens and up. One librarian was even an old Valiant fan and said that he was going to have to check them out himself!

Anywho- it took a bit of talking to people, but I know a whole lot more about the process now. I really appreciate you guys bringing this up or I may not have looked into it at all!

+1, excellent work, Sir!

I may have to buy a patch from your next batch in support. To answer an earlier question, I like the idea of a silver on grey &/or dark red patch.

btw, here is a rough mock-up that we made regarding what the next style of patch might be. We would love to hear your thoughts. Personally, I really like the gold and red one and maybe the lighter blue. The black and red is really striking though too!

We will make some more of the first color for those that were not able to get one and then go with one of the styles below as well! Keep in mind that these just are really rough color mock ups so any feedback is welcome!

With all of the hype building for Unity and Livewire I think it makes sense to go with the gold/red patch! The finished product should look incredible! We will be making 25 of the original color and then 25 of a the new version- Maybe more if there is enough interest.

Here is the current wait-list that I have going for the people that wanted more patches (I think that I got you all but let me know if I did not) and they will get priority on whatever they want: (limit to 2 of each version to start, but after a week I will open it up to more if there is any left)

Trevor
slimydog
Tim
Carson
Labtech1
siren3-4
Bobby
Aaron
Eric D.
Ryan

Those guys are guaranteed to get what they need, but there should still be a ton left for everyone.

So basically, at this point everyone just needs to email sandersfabares@gmail.com to let me know exactly what they would like (which patch and how many) and I will start an actual running tally. No need to pay yet- it will be a few weeks until the patches get here - I just want to get the list started up! Patches are $10 just like the first round.

Does everyone think that it would be a good idea to start a new thread for round 2, or should I just continue it here? Please let me know what would be easier.

In other exciting news, the mega book order of trades from my LCS will be here next Wednesday! Exciting!
