In 2008, "we" can say that there's something NEW about Valiant that we haven't talked to DEATH in the last 6 years (or more.)
Y'all who discovered them...? Take a bow. You deserve all the credit you get.

Yup you got it. We're just waiting on more confirmations at this time.Rufusharley wrote:ok. so i'm just trying to make sense of all this. So far we've just confirmed the existence of 4 new newsstand Price variants. And those would be XO 43, and Bloodshot 30,31, & 32. Is this correct so far? I know more could be added when they're confirmed.

I didn't read this whole thread. In fact, I didn't read most of the first three pages.

The discovery of new price variants for these books is very interesting.
Keep up the good work, guys!

Greg, can we get this thread pinned to the top as this will most likely have an impact on Valiant collecting? It'll also be easier for folks to find this thread when they have a new price variant book for confirmation.greg wrote:Escaflown4 wrote:Yup you got it. Just one thing - the likely candidates, the ones for which we are awaiting confirmation, are books we today don't know if they exist as newsstand editions.Escaflown4 wrote:Yup you got it. It could be awhile (or never) until another one of these potential price variants shows up from the potential list of candidates.
The list is based on the premise that direct sales books priced at $2.25 may have newsstand counterparts priced at $2.50, however, that has already been proven faulty with respect to at least one potential candidate, the Bloodshot 33 which is $2.25 for both versions.
It may very well be the case that Valiant started putting direct sales UPCs on their books prior to actually producing any newsstand versions which would mean no other books will surface.
Based upon what we've found so far, I would say the most likely additional candidates would be
Bloodshot 29
Solar 45
Magnus 48, 50-54

Check the other newsstand thread; we tried to get a trading group together last year but it didn't pan out. Some guys certainly had some extras that they were willing to trade for other newsstands. Not sure anyone has any for sale however.

Since X-O #43 has been confirmed, I would think the other two X-O books would be likely candidates too.mrwoogieman wrote:It could be awhile (or never) until another one of these potential price variants shows up from the potential list of candidates.

It may just be that Valiant had their head shoved so far up their rears at this point that no one was paying attention to prices......that would be my guess.mrwoogieman wrote:It could be awhile (or never) until another one of these potential price variants shows up from the potential list of candidates.

By the way....
There are price variants for almost ALL Marvels in the period of 1995-early 1997....$1.95 vs. $1.99.
Think anyone will care...?

They're too damn hard to find.
I just buy them when I run across them.
Uncanny #339 is an example.

The newsstands are a lot more scarce then what most people think. Until you start hunting for them, then you will understand how rarely you come across them.Rufusharley wrote:So i went through my whole collection looking for newsstands and found not a one.![]()
I thought i'd find one or two atleast out of the whole lot.
