Re: Bragging rights - your best deal of late?
Hope this is not boring people.
I did say on my offer of £75, that I couldn't afford the rare issue at £200, maybe that swayed the seller, thinking the others where not worth as much.
Just cheaked a similar issue sold for $470 Aust but had tear on the cover.
Another is a latter issue up for sale at $770, £370 GBP, slightly better condition So I might be able to get $650? each as my books are 30 issues before.
Just typing away, you don't have to read this. Just no one else interested - maybe you are not either.

Super excited, not trying to bait people. I am just super excited. Its a paper cover comic, as in newspaper comic cover and interior from 1950's.
Not sure if early usa comics are the same. I Don't have any usa comics of that age.
Just super excited. Still 6 days to go, so maybe the uk comic community will find out.
Will keep you posted.
Sorry don't want to jinx it. Sorry this sounds like I want people to comment. And ask questions. Like the silly Facebook posts people do.
Just so excited and cannot tell other groups as it will sky rocket.![]()
They realised what they had! They changed the auction to buy it now or best offer - for £200. It was issue 69 of The Phantom from 1951? Printed by frew publications.
Oh what could have been. Oh well.

Current bid is arround £16, I put a max snipe of £55.55 7 hours to go.
Won it for £21 GBP. at tenth its value

Re: Bragging rights - your best deal of late?
The other 3 comics at £75 each - so arround $285 US dollars.
Are being sent via the cheapest class mail available.
No signature, no confirmation of delivery, not even first class Royal mail. Second class Royal mail - the absolute cheapest option.
Who sends $285 worth of goods through the post with out confirmation of delivery?
A deceptive person could just say it never arrived and get a refund! The comics for free! £225 GBP and instead of paying £3 ? you pay £1.80 and take that risk - stupid.
THe £21 pound comic is tracked delivery, so at least confirmation of a delivery!

Congrats on the cover art and rare Phantom books! I enjoyed reading your story and post about them. I know nothing about Phantom books so I learned something. I’d love to see your Hellblazer art page with Swamp Thing when you get a chance.

Re: Bragging rights - your best deal of late?
More free in the coming weeks, and going to sell alot of stuff I just 'have'. Not just comics. So will post the art page of Hellblazer / swamp thing.
The 3 Issues of The Phantom arrived. I was going outside the house and stopped the postman who was about to jam them in my letterbox.
Well packaged, and arrived safely. They are amazing copies, It would be hard to find a higher grade for a 1955 comic printed on newspaper - even the cover is newspaper stock - is that the same for American comics of the same era? or do usa comics have different cover stock from their internal pages from 1955?
I could afford these at full price, but would never buy them. Just because collecting Frew Phantoms - it is near impossible to complete no matter how much money you have.
Such fantastic grades on all 3. Really happy. I will post images of the comics here - or post a link to auction if I flip them to pay for the artwork. Only because the artwork is one of a kind, compared to a printed comic.

Re: Bragging rights - your best deal of late?
Received the single issue I got for £21.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/145920143879
if you look at the image their seems to be a hole, or colour missing from the cover - just under 'lee Falk' Author of Mandrake.
Between the top of the tree and the word registered ( which is under the Lee Falk Author of Mandrake) in smaller text
Looks like a hole to me, or a section of cover rubbed down so the colour is gone and newspaper its printed on showing below.
NO - its was just a bit of dirt on the inside of the comic bag it was stored in - so mega bonus on that.
Yes their is slight tear to bottom right, but still. Really happy.

Re: Bragging rights - your best deal of late?
SO their is an item for £25 plus postage.
Buy it now or best offer.
So I put in an offer of £20 - rejected.
The item didn't sell.
It was relisted.
So I put in an offer of £20 - rejected.
It has a day and 1/2 to go.
When relisted I will put in an offer of £20.
Just seems strange, your item doesn't sell. And you reject it? Why have 'or best offer'?
When it doesn't sell for the 3rd week, shall I offer £20 or offer £15.
Not a bragging rights post, just sharing my thoughts

Re: Bragging rights - your best deal of late?
OK.
Left my laptop at a friend's.
But here is the hellblazer page I have. Which I really really love. I have every issue of both - accept dark league . I stooped their and restarted hellblazer recently.
I have misplaced the phantom pages. But found the eternal warrior.
Will wait until I get my laptop back. As my phone I cannot adjust picture size on phone. Have to edit it down. With camera I can just set lower MB capture of images.

Re: Bragging rights - your best deal of late?
Perhaps not the biggest, most impressive deal, but I was able to secure a copy of the first X-O Manowar TPB from 1993 for only a single dollar.
In that same shopping spree, I was also able to get a copy of SpongeBob Comics #1 for only $33, which is more impressive considering it had a surprisingly low print run and regularly fetches $150 or more online.

can I ask people here, how much do you think this piece is worth.
I sold all my hellblazer issues, and have all my swampthing up for sale. Thought I might let this go - not sure if it is £50 or £500 . I have no idea.
