Fairest # 2, Chew # 25, Red Lanterns # 8. I've only gotten to Red Lanterns, but it seems like this has all been setup for the passing of the torch.

Invincible is definitely gearing up. The Dinosaurus bits are awesome. I love how this book makes fun of all other comics, but isn't afraid to be a comic - "The Walking Dread"
With all the great threads running through this book, this book could go on forever.
I haven't read Chew in a few issues. Shortly after I received my second Omnivore, I decided not to read anymore new issues until I re-read the two omnivores. Which is a bit dumb, because Chew is probably the best single issue comic out there.

Wein was great and you make a good observation on the stories/plot pacing. Some good moralistic stories in those days. An issue in the mid-200's regarding a woman living in a glass house stands out in my memory even though I read those issues 25 years ago....then there was Trimpe's artBruceReville wrote:The stories while not being overly simplistic, nor buried in subplots were/are very straightforward and just flow - makes for good bubblegum for the brain.StarBrand wrote:Some good talent there.BruceReville wrote:Story by Len Wein and Roger Stern. I never liked the Hulk until PAD began writing the book. Loved what he did with the characterhulk181man wrote:Wein was great and you make a good observation on the stories/plot pacing. Re: What comics are you reading now?
Finally got around to Chew # 25-sheer genius-and Fairest # 2, which was very good but seems a bit of a setup and sudden change of story from the first issue. I also finally caught up a bit with TWD...
I managed to get up to the 15th trade, so through issue # 90. All I can say is DAMN.

I'm still mulling over it, but mostly, it did.400yrs wrote:MarrowMan wrote:Choker #6

There was so much time inbetween issues, I'm afraid im gonna hafta read them all in a row.
there's a sort of "to be continued" at the end as well, so there will be more Choker eventually.

Re: What comics are you reading now?
Last weekend I read Walking Dead HC #3 - still enjoying it - it's very event-filled.
Before I start HC 4, I'm taking a break to read Wolverine: First Class. This is a LOT of fun. Great for all ages and may even be fun to read with your daughters (teen Kitty Pryde is a main character).

I read the first 4 or so and then stopped. I've bought the over-sized trades (bigger than magazine sized) collecting 3-4 issues to read at some point. I really like that format.

Very much agreed.Brother Darque wrote:Mudman.

I am buying quite a few more Image books than I used to; currently Mudman, Savage Dragon, Prophet, Bloodstrike, Supreme, Youngblood from next month, and when/if they return Marineman and Jack Staff.
Add to that that I read Invincible via the Ultimate Collections and may start Walking Dead via the HC's, and there are quite a few more Image stories that I am following that I simply was not doing so a year or two ago - DC's (and BOOM! with their 'Stan Lee' titles going away) loss is Image's gain.
VEI - I look forward to you one day publishing MORE than 9-10 books per month
Re: What comics are you reading now?
I know, with Image celebrating 20 years, it's amazing to see how far they've come from their initial 7 titles. I'm currently buying 6 titles (2 via tpb only), and not long ago the idea of buying 6 Image titles would have made me laugh.
This post has been carefully constructed so as to add absolutely nothing to any discussion or topic.

I know what you mean; I was surprised when I realised just how many Image books I am buying. Not a vast amount, but certainly more than I have for a long time.dbngaa wrote:I know, with Image celebrating 20 years, it's amazing to see how far they've come from their initial 7 titles. Re: What comics are you reading now?
I spent yesterday doing some much needed catching up on my comic reading and in the pile was Wulf #4 from Atlas Comics. I pull the comic out of the sleeve and vocalized my disappointment in the failure of the line to put out timely books to my wife. Less than 60 seconds later, I put the comic back in the sleeve saying I was glad I didn't pay cover price ($2.99) for a comic that took less than a minute to read.
As bad as Dark Key was, Atlas is even more of an example of what not to do. The Goofus to Valiant's Gallant, I hope.

I picked a copy this weekend with Manhattan Project and some Fatales. Or is it another Image buzz book?

Try it. I'm interested to hear people's thoughts. IMO, if you like Riley Rossmo's art, you'll like it. If not, you may not enjoy it or even understand the story.
One day, Rossmo is going to find the perfect Marvel book to be put on and he's going to be loved / hated like Bill Sienke....whatever.

Re: What comics are you reading now?
One thing I am now noticing about Marvel in 1978 - to keep on time there were alot of "Flashback Issues" - Reprints right smack dab in the middle of the run - Fill-in 1 issue story. Hey I guess if it works to keep the schedule going -- Why Not?
