Possible changes from the comic to the movie can range from
Instead of an ad in the newspaper, the ad will be a pop-up on Pete's computer screen (what teen reads the newspaper?)
Instead of a letter, it'll be an email.
Faith will remain a fangirl who collects Star Trek (except that instead of being the 60's version, she'll be a fangirl of the 21st Century JJ Abrams version of Star Trek. It's called cross-promotion. Faith will have toys from the new Star Trek movie, and maybe even the DVD).
The timeline of events will be compressed somewhat to give it a sense of urgency, so the trip to New Orleans (which in reality was a consequence from their apperance in X-O Manowar) is most likely out, meaning that the whole of issues 5 and 6 are out, compressed down to Torque's death during the final battle at the climax of the movie.
What else?

Heroes???Dr. Solar wrote:I think that the movie would need to include the idea that these are teens. That was what made Harbinger click, I think. Everybody remembers feeling like an outcast, or not belonging for some reason when they were a teenager. The fact that these kids have harbinger abilities, to me, is just a tool to augment that natural teenage turmoil.
That, to me, is what the movie should focus on. I don't want an action flick, I want a drama that has action in it.

I don't want Heroes with different names, but something fast paced, with that sort of mixture of drama with action, would be good, imo.myron wrote:Heroes???Dr. Solar wrote:I think that the movie would need to include the idea that these are teens. I don't know if anyone has mentioned this yet in any threads, but if I were running Paramount, I'd look into getting Jim Shooter to write the story. Heck, it was his brainchild anyway and the guy certainly has the writing chops to pull it off.
I don't know what Shooter is doing right now. He may have some contract with another comic company which may have a stipulation against such things.
It'd be cool though and it'd be a HECK of a marketing coup and a marketing tool as well. It'd make the comic headlines, that's for sure!

Same thing it meant when Disney got Crossgen??greg wrote:Paramount has acquired the rights to Harbinger.
As we know, Paramount is a major movie studio,
with the financial means to handle any budget size.
So, Paramount wants (and got) Harbinger...
what does that mean for the Valiant universe at large?

There's a generational aspect to the difference between a "Trekkie" and a "Trekker".cjv wrote:Aren't there two different terms used to describe serious Star Trekk fans?Draco wrote:And she only said that as she was embarrassed i think.ManofTheAtom wrote:magnusr wrote:She said she wasn'tManofTheAtom wrote:Not to mention that Faith is an uber Trekie.

Okay, okay, she was a Treker, not a Trekie
Trekkie is okay. Is the other Trekker?
From what I know, one is considered "bad", while the other is okay among the hard corp Star Trek fans.
Chris
BTW, I just saw a preview for Fan Boys last night. Heh heh.
Faith is too young to be a true "Trekkie".

Paramount has optioned Harbinger, and I would think there are time limits on that option, I am sure several years.
I believe, and correct me if I am wrong, Disney bought the remains of the Crossgen universe, so they actually own the characters and can use them whenever and wherever they see fit.
I would think the clock is ticking for Paramount already, but like I said they should have plenty of time.

Jim is a great writer, but I don't know if that would translate over to writing a great screenplay. Maybe bringing him in as a writing consultant would work better.david_albuq wrote:I don't know if anyone has mentioned this yet in any threads, but if I were running Paramount, I'd look into getting Jim Shooter to write the story. ZWH, that was hilarious!
I do think that Jim Shooter would be a good choice for the writer. Why? Has anyone seen a movie recently? What I mean is, the overwhelming VAST majority of movies these days are complete crap. I say that from experience having just watched the last two Jason Statham movies (Chaos & Revolver) and they were so bad, I wish I could get the time from my life back.
Soooooooo, many movies these days are so poorly written that it's a freakin' wonder....more studios haven't gone under. The lion's share of movies at any given time at the theatre are complete trash. Look at the recent AVP. Ehh, too many to mention.
Sheesh, who but Jim Shooter would be the best to draft the script for this movie? He's intimately knowledgeable about each character and could write a story that makes Harbinger different from all other team-based movies.

In case someone hasnt already posted it (I am still reading through the posts) it is my understanding that a TREKKER is someone who is a fan of the original series. a TREKKIE is someone who is a fan of ST:TNG. TREKKERS consider TREKKIES to be Johnny-come-latelys...cjv wrote:Aren't there two different terms used to describe serious Star Trekk fans?Draco wrote:And she only said that as she was embarrassed i think.ManofTheAtom wrote:magnusr wrote:She said she wasn'tManofTheAtom wrote:Not to mention that Faith is an uber Trekie.
