It was just overload. How many Bone collectors could afford something like this? Not many. Too much good stuff, all in one place.Second_Death wrote:I'm surprised this auction didn't finish much higher considering the popularity of this series. For comparison, early last year I sold 2 raw sets of Bone #1-13 (all in solid 9.2-9.6 range) for $1250 shipped.
Besides....the guy wanted a ridiculous amount as a reserve.

I am by no means a Bone aficionado, but “overload” is what I originally thought as well the first time I saw this besides, "Holy Mother F@CK" (which is why I estimated between 5-8K).ZephyrWasHOT!! wrote:It was just overload. It truly is a beautiful run but the auction was poorly focused. He could have done a better job by breaking it up into logical parts but I doubt that is/was the end-state.
Had he done that (break it up) I would have certainly put in a bid especially on 1-15 but I am wondering if this was more of a "Hey look at what I have built" then a true "For Sale".
I did read his notations on Consignees so I think he/she may have only been testing the waters for a private sale, something like mass advertisement/spam, to those that have the buck/contacts to pull it off.

Odds are, he purposely set a high reserve just to see how high it would go to give him an idea of what he can get for it. I bet you see it listed again on Ebay for a reasonable reserve.myron wrote:makes you wonder how bad he really wanted to sell it...ZephyrWasHOT!! wrote:It was just overload. His reserve was $25,500, but he would have taken offers if the bidding was as high as $18K....I told him he was dreaming, and he said he knew that.
What he's going to discover, however, is that he's flooded the census with the books....now, he will get NOWHERE near what he would have gotten had he CGC'd them one.....set....at.....a....time.......
It's broken up, and parts of it being re-auctioned as we speak....for still stupid amounts of money.
But hey, they're his books, he can ask whatever he wants for them.

I read once that Nickelodeon was going to make an animated show with the property but Smith was unhappy with them targeting it to children. Not that children don't appreciate it but that it is so much more than that. Also, I think that the theme song was going to be kid pop-like.jedimarley wrote:What were the details? Jeff turned it down as he didn't agree / like the way on how Disney plans to bring it mainstream.

Sadly, the guy reallllly doesn't understand the market for Bone, and is trying to get crazy prices for EVERYTHING...SnotDrip wrote:Looks like part of the set has been broken up and is being sold individually on CLINK
$50 for a Bone 1/2 gold 9.4?
That's about $35 too much.
The prices are similarly high on the rest.
Ah well.
