I agree - it's a "buyer beware" market, so if someone wants to shell out stupid amounts for a comic (worthless, or otherwise), more power to them...Chiclo wrote:Hey - there's a sucker bourne every minute and this guy's trying to be the first to get to one of them.superman-prime wrote:did anyone break it to him that they are worth 10 bucks mabeee??
Can't blame him for trying, but if he honestly expects them to sell for that price he's sadly mistaken.
Still, has anyone seen someone get taken to the cleaners by such an auction (i.e. $25 for an X-Men #1E, or worse yet, X-Force #1 still bagged)?

These are the first two books in a series of three. These books have become very high in demand and are no longer in print. Serious seasoned, or beginner collectors only need apply. Compare at other prices on E - Bay for $1250.00 each. Save over $500.00 when buying these two books, they are a great investment. These books are in mint shape and have never even been opened.

I'd really like to see where that seller says he saw others sold for $1250.00 each.
$12.50 is more likely..........
-slym (has the ultra-rare HC edition of Marvels, will sell for ONE MEELLION DOLLARS)

Some people spend their whole lives believing in fairy tales, usually because they don't want to give up the fabulous prizes.

Dude, I can't remember the last time I saw one go for more than $12.50, let alone $1250!!!!
Listings like this should be against eBay policy. Heck, you can get messed over by someone after a sale, but there's nothing to keep crackpots like this from hurting you before the sale.
I think I've lost IQ points just knowing this is out there.

So, I know this thread typically sticks to comics...but the shipping on this just disgusts me.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0134960629
On a related note...if anybody happens to be in Toys'R'Us and sees one of them, I would love to have one. I just don't feeling like feeding the ebay scalpers who buy all these up the second they hit the stores. I actually want to open it up and play with, simply because Soundwave was like the best transformer ever.
EDIT: after I sent a message questioning his sanity ($17.65 for parcel post/$36 for priority) he changed it to the actual cost of shipping.
Of course, then I missed the BIN on the auction by like 3 minutes

Of course, just looking at the description in the listings, I thought this one would be graded - then I clicked it.

Although it was reprinted at least once, Marvels was first printed in the early 90s. They were original works at that time, but homages to an earlier time.nickvasallo wrote:that dude looked up the prices for the issues they are repinting Im sure, so he thinks they're the actualyt ones printed in 1948 or somethingDaniel Jackson wrote:I'd still like to know where he's getting this info from.superman-prime wrote:this guy is still trying.

That was one of the first series I re-acquired when I got more seriously back into comics after a several year hiatus. I remember particularly enjoying it when it first came out. I also remember a story featuring the original Human Torch, where his creator is forced to bury him in cement, but teaches him in secret while he is imprisoned, but the cement eventually cracks and he breaks free, but I don't remember seeing that in any of the issues I have currently. Am I just losing my mind?
