Damn, you guys are talented... and motivated! Good stuff.
Is Vanhook illustrating this peice?
It's great to see how well things have developed since the crash. You all are great writers. I'm jus curious who's doing the art.

RE: Bloodshot 2004
Well, hot damn, y'all!
We've got 4 pages! Very, VERY cool!
So, Harada and the egg-breakers are involved. At least peripherally. Was Harada messing with Gil's mind? Still don't know what took Gil's arm off at the shoulder. Or what could make him, "Do what's right."
We've got to give the readers some answers soon or they'll get *SQUEE* and drop it. (Although it worked for Twin Peaks for a season or so...)
Is someone in line for page 5? Who wants to send me the plot that's being passed around? I'm frost1@aol.com, have been for 14 years. I get tons of SPAM, so I'm used to it. That's why I'm not afraid to have the email addy out there for the world to see.
I'll be glad to act as editor. For that matter, I'll be glad to jump back in the rotation and write another page if need be.
To the new crop of Valiant writers--wonderful job! Keep it up!!

RE: Art
I think there are enough talented folks around to illustrate this tale and...well, there's a reason I drew one full comic book during my Valiant stint!
I can motivate myself as a writer/director/fx guy, but when it comes to drawing, I tend to want to do a killer page and then the urge leaves me and it's hard to sit down at the board again for a month or so. Doesn't serve well as a full-time artist.
Jaknife's motivated. XOMATIC's up for inking, Bernard's going to lay something out, I'm sure some more guys'll crop up here soon.
Where's SonicDan in this mix? MagnusR? You guys gonna play? Ryan, Greg? Don't make me look at who all's registered and pester you!
What's the length of the plot? A 21 pager? Shorter? It's good to have rhythms to these things. Slow build, Climax, start over, Bigger events, then resolution, for instance.
Anxious to see what waits...

RE: Comic length
Our books were 21-22 pages in length, typically.
Personally, I lean toward a completable 10 pager than a drawn out 40 pager that meanders because it's taking a long time to get through.
BUT, the rate you guys are going, that may not be a problem!

Re: RE: Art
Oh yes, just being realistic. For drawing I'm useless (which could be one factor in why I'm so fascinated in original art). I guess I could do computer coloring, but it would be technical, not artistic. I could help writing, but I gotta admit - having seen the pages so far my reaction has been "I could never do that well". If there is an agreed on plot, I would probably not do too much damage writing a page or two if you all accept.VanHook wrote:MagnusR? You guys gonna play?
There is one sure way I can contribute and maybe take some load of you. All writers, any questions that come up about the Valiant Universe, just ask me. Of course, we also need to agree which universe this takes place in.
Anyway, please include me in the group being set up for plotting and writing.
Thanks,
Magnus

Um, cuz that's what Kevin's calling it.deathmedal wrote:why does it have to be bloodshot 2004?

Be grateful he's willing to play around with a bunch of fanboy wannabes in the 1st place (and props to Mr. Chang, as well. Thanks, guys!).
Anyway--you might be surprised at who pops in and out of the story.
BoH, who's giddy that it's a Bloodshot project, natch!

Seriously, though, I will be happy to join in...
I figured I'd wait until about page 11 and see what
I can do to help.

To add a more realistic prespective to the story thus far, let me say that I could visualize a rocket blowing off the top of the bridge arch that EW & BS were standing atop, but a single rocket fired from a helicopter wouldn't destroy the whole Brooklyn Bridge. That sucka is SOLID! Just might want to edit the overkill on the bridge. Just blow off a chunk of it. Anyone who has been on the Brooklyn Bridge will know what I mean about one rocket not being able to destroy it. Just my 2¢. Now let me play, too!:)---Steve G

Isn't anyone gonna answer me?.....sigh!
Just remember, in the Famous People Among Us thread, when Jaknife said:
"wow So far we have met K. VanHook, Rags Morales, JayJay Jackson, Bob Layton, and now Bernard Chang. wow wow"
...it was me who replied:
"Great! Now they can all get together again, & create some new stories for us diehard fans!---Steve G"
Now, please let me play....
who got page 5? or any other pages?

It depens on which side you're looking at. "regualr z" on his left; "reverse z" on his right.dave wrote:i have a technical question...perhaps for kevin?
what is the proper way to draw bloodshot's lightning bolts? backward "z"s or forward...i've seen both, but if they were really permanent they wouldn't move...

Very intriguing story/project you've got started here Kevin.
I'm glad to see my homeboy Anthony involved as he is the #1 Bloodshot fan.

I have some moderate drawing skills so I hope to be able to contribute
in some capacity.

Or is he dead? 1999 was 5 years ago. What about Armstrong or Ivar? Maybe something went down with them that led to this. Or someone we've never met. I don't think XO did it. The wound would've been cauterized. The blast just sealing the wound behind the cut.
You don't think Gilad killed Neville, do you? Surely not. Or attacked Jillian? That would be horrible. What if... ...what if he there was some terrible Negative Zone/Vortex/Unity Energy blasting/Solar-created Portal thing...and He had to reach inside--and it closed--severing his arm? Ick. But he had to be doing something that he feels was wrong. Something that Bloodshot has hunted him down for. Did the Fist and the Steel of the Earth...BETRAY the earth itself? Would a Geomancer have sought out retribution?"
OK, Kevin's thrown out a boatload of ideas here. Here's my idea, incorporating many of Kevin's plot questions & characters. First we must establish this as a Bloodshot story. It's leaning more towards an Eternal Warrior story so far. The pre-story has to be more Bloodshot oriented.
PRE-STORY (stuff that has gone on BEFORE the bridge scene---probably presented in a Bloodshot flashback):
The story could start out about Bloodshot hearing that Harada has either killed or kidnapped Gilad. This could be something that Shadowman (or someone else) has witnessed or maybe a Geomancer or Armstrong or Ivar has had a psychic impression of Gilad's peril. In his hunt for Gilad, he finds out the Gilad is responsible for the destruction of a Top Secret government lab, where he has stolen the plans for a high tech bio-bomb. Anyway, when Bloodshot finally tracks down Gilad, he finds that Harada is actually in control of Gilad's mind. (How has he done this?) Sneaking in to where Harada has Gilad held, he finds that Harada is trying again to unlock the secret of Gilad immortality, & has cut off his arm to watch it regenerate. Harada finds out that Bloodshot has discovered his location, & quickly he uses a combination of a new 'zombie' mind control drug (stolen from Master Darque) & his Harbinger mind powers to control Gilad into a big fight at Harada's hidden lab. Gilad fights both Harada's mind control, the necromantic energy of the Master Darque drug, & Bloodshot all at once, & barely escapes. Leading Bloodshot to track him down at the bridge. Next......

The plot can continue like this:
Gilad seemed to be in meditation on the bridge because he was still fighting off the effects of the Master Darque drug Harada gave him. After rescuing Bloodshot from the bridge explosion, Gilad collapses from the combination of Harada's mind control & the necro-drug.
Meanwhile, Harada thinks they are both out of the picture for right now, even though he senses that they aren't dead. His attempt to control Gilad has failed, but not completely... But he has an idea of how to get better results. He goes back to his wrecked lab, where he retrieves Gilad's severed arm & some other things, then disappears.
Back at the bridge, Bloodshot revives. He sees Gilad unconscious, at which point the police (& other special agents) appear, & the still unconscious body of Gilad is taken to a secret government location for observation & treatment.
Meanwhile, over the next several weeks, Harada has been experimenting again, & has created a hybrid of the Master Darque zombie drug that he mixes with Gilad's still living cells in his severed arm to clone a mutant Gilad, who is completely under the control of Harada. This Gilad clone IS the Harbinger of Doom.
Now, what can Harada's main goal be out of this situation?

IDEAS
Great ideas, one and all. Amazing amount of material generated since I was online about 12 hours ago!
Sorry I missed your name in the dedication, Steve--it was late. It was a combination of your comment and the rogue Chris' emails that led to our doing a story.
I think the storylines that Steve and Anthony have suggested are both valid directions. I'd like the rest of the volunteer writers to throw their two cents in as to which way we go, or in fact, if we meld the two.
EVERYONE is welcome to participate. Like I said, this board is for the fans.
I'll review the two distinct plot directions that have been written out.
Greg, do you want to set up a chat where we could interactively nail down some of this stuff? I know we did a little chat a few months ago. It would make it easier to bring the stuff into focus.
If not late this evening PST, then tomorrow or after 8:00 PST Monday. Sorry, but my day schedule's just pretty full.
