Not sign out of pixierosa's account again, Dan? Apologies if this is actually pixie, but it feels like Dan.pixierosa wrote:AnthonyF wrote:Ouch!Good example. From Anthony Snyder's sales... but
I don't know Keith, but is it accepted here to call out sellers? In the sellers own thread?
First off, it is a cool cover.veronesepk wrote:
I feel as if your collecting and price desires cloud your data. It has been over a year since a Valiant cover appeared in a Heritage Auction, and of the four that appeared in the two years prior, one sold for 2000+, two in the 500+ range, and one at 450.
Next, not a call out so much as a friendly reminder to not be defensive about asking prices. Also proof that what the other buyers were suggesting, that the price was too high for that piece. They know they can pass on the piece; they were trying to be helpful. We all understand the desire to make money, even to buy and flip to an extent, but it should be reflective of the market. Sean Chen covers are selling in the 300-500 range, which isn't much more than they were selling for over a decade ago. This asking price doubled in 2 months time. It's post-Unity, not pre, and even tho Magnus is on the cover, that's not enough of an impetus to gain in value by that amount. I'm sure it will sell - it's a nice piece. But I don't think the demand is there to warrant that price tag.
This is also a good lesson in flipping - no matter what the object, it's darn easy in this day and age to research prices.
That said, if it was a piece I had and didn't particularly want to sell, I would set a high price as my "what it would take to get me to sell it" price.
Peace.
Just sayin'

No, it's the real Pixie. You can't be in a long term relationship with an art aficionado without having some of it wear off.lorddunlow wrote:Not sign out of pixierosa's account again, Dan? Hmmm, probably If we were around the forum pointing out each and every member who gets a good deal and then resells for a higher price, the whole place would burn in place. Everyone's entitled to have an opinion. Me, I see something that I like but find the price is not what I expect, either I'll pass or make an offer

Just my 2 cents (of an euro)

I think that's a fair point and my apologies for my participation in that. That being said, I think it's pretty typical on the boards for newbies and overpriced items. Recently there was some passionate discussion on sale of Fcbd books. I also think the last the references to the price on this string were constructive.AnthonyF wrote: I don't know Keith, but is it accepted here to call out sellers? In the sellers own thread?
I purchased some art through this forum, from collectors (Dealers?) that where likely at substancial markups. If you don't like the price, then pass on it.
I think the Anthony's sales were top of market, attracting a lot of competitive bidding. I was a participant. Perhaps there is some renewed interest in Rai with the new series.
