Somehow I can't see anyone reviving that gimmick.

Y'know, I am probably a rare case in that I always thought Valiant Vision was ahead of it's time in trying to create a full-color 3D experience. However, it was almost impossible to actually READ the comics; the words seem to blur beyond recognition. Thine eyes hurt, indeed!

bamaphilosopher wrote:I agree with everyone else about pre-Unity and Unity. Some of the best comics ever. By anyone.

In X-O, when they killed Shanhara (they went for sensationalism rather than story), alas, they started a downward spiral that got worse and worse, through killing off their best supporting characters (on a title that desperately needed supporting characters), to the X-O bike, to the Dallas dream-like ending, with some great art by Bart Sears and others but *SQUEE*-poor stories. It was a very unfortunate ending to what otherwise had been a fantastic comic.
You actually liked Sears' art on the later X-O's? I liked his early work up until the early X-O issues with Turok, but from Birthquake until now his art has just hasn't been up to par, check out his work on the Warlord series he did for DC a few years back, Uhg. :|
